Another great, informative post, Bob.When we first spotted this new development near the rail road tracks, we were shocked. To cram that many houses into that small of space is crazy. And to think that many new houses won't cause flooding is nuts.Our part of Texas, along Northpark Drive receives some of the heaviest amount of rainfall in North America. Where will all that rain go?

it certainly seems, after all these years of issues and problems and projects, that someone is trying to absolutely destroy Kingwood and remove it from the face of the earth - who is responsible for all this chaos and useless efforts that fix nothing and only seem to cause more disastrous situations for the people that chose that special area to live and raise their families in what was once one of the most highly admired areas with great amenities, i.e., churches, schools, recreational areas, walking trails, etc., near the Houston area, and were able to be proud of their choice for a great place to live for a long time - has this happened in River Oaks? The Woodlands? And to block the egress flow of people who in an emergency weather situation cannot get out, is an abomination! I remember it took me 6 hours to go 20 miles up 59North during Rita and I ended up just turning around and going back home to some sort of safety and just prayed we'd be ok - What are these people thinking who are causing all this strife and aggravation and worry to existing homeowners? Living in this current chaotic world is difficult enough in these times, pray God will help Kingwood residents...

You would have thought the engineers would have looked at this more closely before proceeding with clearing out the land? As it stands right now and just looking at NP as a whole, I don't see how it's not going to flood. It doesn't seem the elevation has changed. It actually seems lower in some areas than before?

These look like very crowded lots so greater high runoff factor than other developments, except commercial.
I suppose this area runoff already goes into this drain system without any detention.
Hopefully the detention addition will somewhat mitigate the increased runoff factor.
As Northpark develops commercially, this will impose greater runoff factor and high flow burden to this drainage system. Hopefully the extensively improved system will handle it better than before. The downstream systems will however see increased surge load. The complete drainage system all the way to the river should be addressed.
