A sprawling new high-tech family entertainment venue is set to arrive in Valley Ranch, bringing games, food, and cutting-edge attractions to the heart of New Caney. The upcoming complex, named Lumos, is projected to open around Summer 2025. Lumos will occupy the space where the Sam's Club originally resided in the Valley Ranch shopping center. With 45,000 square feet of activity-packed space, Lumos aims to offer a wide-ranging experience for families, groups, and thrill-seekers alike. The project combines an arcade, laser tag, interactive theater, ax throwing and bowling under one roof, along with a full-service restaurant, bar and outdoor patio. Attractions Include: - Arcade: Roughly 6,000 square feet, featuring prize redemption games - Laser tag: With a "Lights Out London" immersive theme - Interactive theater 7D short-film experience: With motion seats, laser targets, wind effects and 3D glasses - Ax throwing: Lanes equipped with projected games that track motion and scoring - Bowling: 16 standard lanes, hyper bowling technology for video-game style play, nine-foot video screens and private VIP areas - Party rooms: four spaces fitted with large screens and patio access for birthdays or corporate meetings - Outdoor patio: Covering 2,000 square feet for dining, socializing and viewing sports screens Economic Impact The economic impact to the New Caney area is potentially huge, between the added job opportunities, additional local sales tax revenue, and drawing in visitors in from out of the area. Developers estimate Lumos will create about 150 jobs, and generate 2.5 million dollars in annual payroll for the New Caney area, including many good job opportunities for teens and young adults. Food and Beverage In addition to the games and entertainment, a 4,000-square-foot restaurant and bar area will seat guests in a quieter zone away from the games. Sixty-five feet of LED screens will carry TV and live sports. The menu ranges from wood-fired pizza, burgers to wings. But it will also include more upscale, full dining options like steaks, chicken and shrimp. A full bar will be available for beer, wine and cocktails. Leadership and Vision Owner Greg Little, who spent decades managing large teams at Shell, said retirement inspired him to bring a fresh entertainment option to Montgomery County. “We're really trying to elevate the experience here at Lumos. We want to make sure people have a great time, and ask themselves the question, 'Why was that experience so amazing?' We want to be a social gathering place for the community." 
KingwoodDotCom : Talk about a Feast or Famine. For years, we didn't have any family-oriented fun venues up this way. Now, we have Main Event, Score (in the old Sears location), and Lumos in the old Sam's location. It will be interesting to see how they all fare in this market.
KingwoodDotCom : I hope they do well. The spot in the mall that have games, etc always seems pretty empty, no matter what day/time I have been there. This is a Lot of space/heat/a/c/employees, insurance, etc to take on, but I am sure they did their due diligence. There is a version of a 'convention center' being built close by this, but that group would not be their demographic for customers. I think a Sam's or Costco there, would have done well, but that is just mho.

I guess it sounds cool, Im glad they filled the space. This makes me sad though. - Arcade: Roughly 6,000 square feet, featuring prize redemption games A room full of ticket machines and redemption games is NOT an arcade, its a kid casino. I wish someone would build a heavily themed indoor putt putt course.
ZMAN : Kid casino is actually hilarious. I'm going to start using this from now on.😂 There are all sorts of cool indoor putt putt places downtown. Puttery, Puttshack, even Shankz in The Woodlands.
Txbutterfly : That's a really good point, it will be opening up more jobs in the area for people in the community including college and high school kids. Also gives me an idea on where to direct my DS to apply when he's ready to.
