Shooting at Deerbrook mall from a meet up to sell an item.
They set up the meeting in the very public parking lot at the mall. And the seller came to sell a bracelet and the buyer came with a gun to steal it.
Sheesh! Use to be meeting in public was the safe thing to do!

Tell the seller that you want to meet at a police station & 9 times out of 10 they'll have a different buyer or some reason they can't do it (because they're sketchy). Some people suck. Glad it seems like everyone was at least okay.
What ******* wants to meet at 8pm in a dark lit parking lot?

Several questions about this story. Why after dark? Why not meet safely at a police station? Apparently the seller had a gun too as they exchanged gun shots - did he anticipate trouble? Was there more being sold than "item online"?

what an awful place to set up a meet up - Deerbrook Mall of all places???? That's like asking for trouble - makes no sense. I really don't think either of the sides to this proposed transaction had good intentions in mind ! It's a wonder people aren't dead from this incident....
The only time I sold something online that had a blind meeting like that I took an Army buddy who is as good of a shot as I am. We were both armed. When I parked we both got out and flanked him. I could see we made him quite nervous. I told him no offense, but we don't know you. The deal went as planned and he quickly left the parking lot. I don't recommend that anyone meet strangers in parking lots - even in front of a police station. I was taking a silly chance on a $500 item and I wouldn't do it again even with backup.

I am glad I don't need to risk selling anything to strangers. If I need it out of my life I would just give it away or just donate it.
My logic here is how much is the hospital after getting shot. Obviously much more than anything I would be selling. So I take the cheaper option.
True. I thought of that after I posted. I still don't get meeting at Deerbrook after dark. Safer places exist.
