Alma Latina Restaurant and Bar We decided to try a restaurant we had never been to today. Alma Latina Restaurant and Bar in Porter.
They were very busy when we got there at 1:30 this afternoon. They have a great patio space that would be very nice in the fall or spring. Anyway, I had the Tex Mex enchiladas with ground beef, charro beans and rice. They would have been great had they not used canned cheese and sauce. It tasted like the chili cheese tater tots from Sonic. Don't get me wrong I love chili cheese tater tots from Sonic. I just don't want my enchiladas to taste like that. Another person at our table had the Tacos al Carbon. They looked great but were bland. Another had the Street tacos and they were bland too. Now for the chips and salsa. The chips are a little too thick for me but they were not too bad. The salsa seemed to be tomato sauce with a little chopped up tomatoes and jalapeno. Our food looked very good when it got to our table. They have beautiful presentation! I may not go there again. Look at their menu. Their food actually looks as good as the pictures. TEXASGIRLMAMMA : I've been there with a group. It's been a while, but I do remember the chips being a little on the thick side, salsa tasted funny. My friend's Grandma loved the place and went often. It was recommended we get the fajitas, so we did. I thought they tasted good.

eighteen : If I ever go back I will have the fajitas. We saw lots of food being delivered to people and it all looked so good. But, looks can be very deceiving.

Is this the one down 1314 past Porter Walmart?
Heathur : No, it is not. Have you been to the one on 1314? If so, was it good?
TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Went there a year or so ago. It is a nice place and the food looks great. They have some very different things from most of the neighborhood restaurants. But, overall, I would agree with the bland characterization. We enjoyed it and said we would try it again, but we haven't been back - so I think in retrospect it didn't make a lasting impression.
