This is what happens when things go viral like that. It is a shame but it isn't going to go away. Don't let people taking advantage or negative stories bring you down. There are plenty of good people doing the right thing quietly in their own way away from social media and all the attention it brings. There are positive things happening on social media too. I have a family acquaintance whose only child was born with dwarfism and also some facial paralysis . He is adorable. His parents were completely devoted to him. The father was tragically killed in an accident this past summer. This is in Fayetteville Arkansas. The entire community has rallied around this young mother and her son. This is how people take care of their own. They didn't ask for this kind of love and support. It was not a big deal to the community, just doing what they wanted to do to support this little family unit. I really doubt if this child will be bullied, but if he is he will have many people to lean on. His mother is on Instagram not for sympathy or attention, but because she wanted to bring awareness to the subject of dwarfism and educate others hoping that knowledge may help eliminate the ignorance and bullying that people with individual differences often experience. This was going on before her husband's sudden death. I followed because the story of their little son inspired me. I continue to read the mother's instagram because it lifts my spirits to see the goodness and faithfulness in this world. Its positivity helps me deal with some of my own issues with grief. I think a lot of good things can come about from social media but like all things, one has to be cautious about what you read on it. Don't let the fact that there will always be charlatans and scammers have an effect on you. If you want to be uplifted and inspired with a positive story with a child born with dwarfism and faith in the face of great loss, look for hellokellystuckey on Instagram.
@teatime : You're right!!!
See, that's the thing with social media though. Most people do good deeds, and now they feel like they have to post it publicly in order to count! WHAT?!
I understand scenarios like this where you're trying to bring awareness about bullying and how it effects kids. But why do people also want to make everything public and viral in order for it to count? In order to finally get the schools attention? In order to finally lower bullying? Whyyyyyy is this a thing?
I absolutely love when people are trying to spread happiness or positive things about dwarfism for example, or Down syndrome. THATS what we need more of! Shine LIGHT! 4951
