Planning a move to KW after the holidays and I seem to have focused my search on the Kings Point section, the Landings? area. We have two boys ages 5 & 7 and I have heard lots of great things about Willow Creek Elementary school. But I am starting to have some doubts as to the number of young children in the neighborhood. Can anyone chime in on which neighborhoods have the most kids in the same age range as my children? Also, any input on other schools would be great as well.  4951

I live in Bearbranch and there are a bunch of wild kids running around. I know that Trailwood is not that kid friendly, in the area my siggy once lived.woodland hills (I think) also has tons of rugrats 4951

The newer neighborhoods will have younger kids. Kings Point is a good choice. If you find it pricey, Kings River might be a good idea. Both are good options if you don't have or don't mind the long commute to 59.  4951

budget is up to $500k and I seem to have been able to find plenty of places for less than that. Wow, you get a lot of house for the money in TX! Much more than we are used to. I am just hoping to make this move a positive for my kids, they are very well established where we currently live and I hate pulling them away from their friends.  4951

All my friends who have moved to Kings Point say they haven't met many of their neighbors and there really aren't many kids out on their streets. I always got the impression there were lots of kids in Woodstream and Riverchase but my kids are older and I don't know if that's still the case. Good luck! 4951

Where are you coming from? Here in Texas, you can buy a nice house for much less than $500,000. Kings Point is one of the higher priced neighborhoods. Things to look out for - ask how much your electric bill will be in a house that big, how much your property taxes will be, etc. Try Woodstream, Riverchase, Riverbend (they go to Shadow Forest Elem. and Riverwood Middle School. Parts of Riverchase go to Willow Creek if I am not mistaken. If you buy in Sand Creek, there is a much older population - so they won't have young kids. 4951

jls2- Coming from NJ. Real estate in our area is crazy expensive so even with our budget we are saving $$ and still will probably get a much larger house than we currently have. Even the taxes are much much less than we are used to so we're very happy about that. Goldie's post is exactly what I am having second thoughts about though. I drove through Riverchase this morning but it was so cold and wet I'm not sure I got a good feel for it. I'm sitting in Starbucks right now looking up all of the active listings and plan on driving around again tomorrow. I'm here just looking around until Monday.  4951

@CaptainSkinny: We live in Woodstream and the schools here are top notch. Love my neighborhood and there are some homes near me for sale. Good Luck. Emoticon

All of the villages are kid friendly.  It just depends on when and the street/area.  When we moved to Greentree 20 years ago, there were tons of kids.  As those kids grew up, we had a period of few kids.  Now, more younger people are moving in and there are more kids again.Overall, Kingwood still remains kid-friendly!  Welcome! 4951

Coming from NJ you should be able to improve your house. As they warned above, check your taxes and if you commute, drive it at rush hour.....it is a long way down KWD from the back of Kingwood. 4951

@ET: I live off Mills Branch and it's not that bad. North Ppark is definitely faster than Kingwood Dr. Or, you can take Mills BRanch to Ford and get onto 59 at the Porter exit - that's how my husband comes home from 59.We just moved here from PA in August - 3 little boys ourselves. We're only renting until the Spring, though, and our budget is not as high as yours, so I can't recommend anywhere! Good luck! PS: as for schools, my oldest goes to St. Martha, and we've been very happy with it so far (minus the no bussing provided to the parochial school thing).
