A few years back I did away with the land line & called back two weeks later & got it back with my same number. I'm not attached to my cell phone & my husband doesn't take his out of the car, so it was driving me crazy. No one could get in touch with us.
Since it was disconnected for only two weeks I think my friends & family thought we didn't
pay the bill.  LOL
@pksbar:
For about three years I had my home phone transferred to an old number that once belonged to my grandparents that no longer worked, so when people would call they would get the operator informing them that the  number was no longer in service. I did this because I got tired of all the telemarketers. So when family and friends would call me they would say something is wrong with your phone and I would tell them no, I can make calls but can't receive them because I transferred my phone. I loved it too, it would ring one time then go to the other number. I always knew when my cell phone was off and someone was trying to reach me because they would call my home numerous times letting me know they were trying to reach me. It was always a family member. When my son joined the Navy I un-transferred it so I wouldn’t miss his calls. 4951
