Iv got the 2 most awesome cats ever but...one has some crazy issues. I have a male DMH and a female siamese. Well when night hits as everyone knows, they get the night crazies. But my girl will come running out of the spare bedroom and try to dart down the stairs but for some strange reason she misses the stairs and hits the small divider wall between the stairs and the hallway. She then jumps up the wall and hangs on with her claws. She has gotten to be a pro at this and now jumps almost 6 feet in the air. She does this at one other point in the house which is a small divider wall going up the stairs. It almost seems like she doesnt understand she has to choose to go one way or the other. Im at my breaking point and my options are getting down to getting her declawed or getting rid of her. It breaks my heart but I cant have her doing this in the new house we are building. It is getting to be very destructive. I need help on what to do. Iv tried deterrent sprays which dont work because she runs to it and jumps. Yelling at her doesnt work nor does a spray bottle. They have a 6' cat tree and 3 scratching posts with in sight of these walls. And she isnt clawing, just jumping and hanging. Please help!!! I dont want to put her through the pain of being declawed and i dont want to give her up. 4951

I am not opposed to front declaw ever. Cats are nocturnal IMHO. They will sound like small horses running up and down in and out of every room of the house. It sounds like you have tried everything. Perhaps I am selfish, but I would declaw and remedy the issue vs giving her away. 4951

Our 2 cats are declawed for this very reason,I don't want my stuff ruined! We have a Siamese and she is also crazy at night. You can hear her every night running all over the house. She stops after an hour or so and goes to sleep with my middle son. He's her best friend 4951

You can clip the nails, just be careful. Oh, I bet you you will find a piece of upholstery that has been shredded....somewhere, on some piece, some day, when you are not prepared. Emoticon sorry but true! 4951

I do not like cats (calliecat name was a joke, LOL!)  My cat, Callie, used to attack and bite me.  Just a warning to you that cats can still jump with their back claws and they tend to bite more when declawed.  Before my cat was declawed she would stalk me and wrap her claws around my legs and my legs would get all scratched.  I even tried those plastic sheaths to put on her claws.  Good luck trying to do that and eventually brought her to the vet to have them put them on.  They would fall off in a day or two.  Finally, I had her declawed.  Las, It got her adopted!  Your furniture will still get scratch because the hind legs still have claws. 4951

I have the nail caps on my boy but they only last a few days like others said. My girl is too little for them. She is a whole 5 pounds and fully grown, she eats like a horse. The small ones are still too big for her and she pulls them off. They really dont claw anything else and are really good about using the scratching post. The only damage, excluding the wall, they have done was accidental because I forgot to clip their claws and they got stuck on the recliner. Heres a pic of my wall. I just fixed it 2 months ago. She just grabs it with all 4 claws and holds on until she slids off.  <img src="https://www.kingwood.com/profiles/profile_photos/180161_wall.jpg"<

I've never had behavior issues with any cats that i've had (front) declawed ever.  I think it's a very personal decision to have the procedure done or not.  How old is the cat @Nicole4647? Has she been fixed? A squirt gun has always been a quick cure for bad behavior with my cats...but you can't fix mental.  4951

I'm thinking of making something out of metal maybe so she will slide right off it. She is a little over a year and he is a little under a year. I was hoping it was a phase but it's been going on for a year now. I'm not sure if the sticky stuff would work or not because she literally jumps 2 feet before the wall while running at it...it was the funniest thing ever until it kept happening. They are both fixed and have been since they were little. Iv even thought about moving our room to the guest room so when she runs it isn't straight for that wall. You couldn't even imagine how funny looking it is to see ur cat hanging from a wall 6' in the air. It crazy. 4951

@nicole4647 They are still in kitten stage. Try tin foil, cat's don't like the feel or the sound. If you can, catch her before she does it, with a squirt gun repeatedly.Emoticon 4951

@Nicole4647: do not ever declaw. it's pretty brutal. you can trim the claws AND they make calming treats. both can be done at my work too. Emoticon
