I offer the following just as an alternative view, and something for your consideration. If you notice in the original op, there is a line that says - "Over the past twelve years, Congress worked hard to eliminate a 13.5% pay gap caused by repeatedly capping military raises below private sector pay growth in the 1980s and ‘90s." That tells me that presidents and or Congress requesting a lid on military pay has been occurring long before President Obama came into office. Additionally the timeline covers BOTH Republican and Democratic Administrations in that military 
ay raises have consistently lagged behind private sector growth in the 80's and 90's Now whether the practice should be continued is up for fair debate. But the subtle suggestion by some this situation is somehow unique to President Obama does not stand up to historical fact. 4951
