As -a cancer patient for 15 years I have had my share of ER.  My daughter has been trying to get sick for the last few days then tonight with her asthma her cold, flu or whatever she had was not letting her breathe.  I quickly got in the car and took her to First Choice.  I was worried.... Flu?  Asthma issues?  Strep?   She had a fever and was falling asleep in the car. From the gentlemen that signed us and the nurse came and got her right away.  She was very sweet and calming and I could see my daughter becoming calm.  The Dr was great and did a detailed exam and because of her bad cough took a lung xray.  I was so glad a girl at work has fluid in her lungs now from this upper resp stuff. We felt like a real patient not a number that was going to wait all night to get answers.  The Doctor came in right away and updated us.Hats off to this team ....we picked up the meds and still got home in time to go to bed.  Did not have to stay in a room for hours.  I would recommend this First Choice to anyone wanting good clear answers and detailed exams.  4951

I went there once & was very pleased. From diagnosis to taking X-rays. Mine  was just something minor a hurt arm & wrist. The day before I went to the one by Shipley's donuts & they were horrible. After they took my copayment they told me they couldn't do anything, it wouldn't be worth taking X-rays???? Really? no x-rays. The doctor looked like he was going to fall asleep and it was 5 in the afternoon. 4951

@Ann2800: You guys are weird. Why was your daughter trying to get sick? And why are you glad a girl at work has fluid in her lungs? That's mean.....is she perhaps the office gossip that eveyone likes to avoid?

I will suffer before I go to Kingwood ER again!  There's a lot of people using it like it's their primary care's office.  @ Fallon   Hope your son is better! 4951

And that is why the health care system is broken!   They can't walk into any other HC facility & get treated and not pay the bill. All the urgent cares & free standing ERs want insurance or money up front. 4951

Wish I had gone there last night with my son. I went to the er at the hospital instead.  OMG, wall to wall people.  We got there at 9 and got home at 12:30.  Not really bad for the amount of people there. But next time, I am going somewhere else.

@Fallon: Go to that first choice on Northpark you  will be glad.  I was home so much sooner

@pksbar, that is exactly what was going on.  The emergencies were being brought in on the ambulances.   And they were rolling in every few minutes last night.  The rest were there and had been there for hours.  They had colds or very minor things that should have been handled not in a dang er.My son was seen right away, because it was a real emergency.  Still took us hours because of the tests run and having to wait for results.  He is going to be fine, but will be on antibiotics and pain meds for the next couple weeks.  The place on NP is open during the day, and they charge $75 if you don't have insurance.  And there is rarely a wait.  Why not go there, instead of sitting in an er for 6 hours?  Because last night, if you weren't an emergency you weren't being seen anytime soon. Most people that were there when we got there were still sitting there when we left.

@Fallon: Exactly...I was home in an hour and a half...they checked her  blood took a flu strep and a strep test and chest Xray.  Back home in no time.  75.00 worth its weight in gold then taking six hours to get things done 4951

They are open 24 hours.  I have also gone there for my illness.  75.00  and they billed insurance and I only had 21.95 left to pay.  I was so glad this place is so much easier and not as high and I have been there twice for me and once for my daughter,  All three Doctors I liked. 4951

The free-standing, independent ERs are the way to go. I've been to two of them and received excellent care without a wait. Yes, you have to pay on your way out, but again, they are a business, not the free clinic. Our hospital ERs are overrun with non-paying "patients" using it as their PCP for non-emergencies, most of the time, so something had to be done. These ERs saw a need and they filled it. 4951

@donnatella: Exactly and with my cancer medication and my daughter and her asthma and prone to colds that escalate I am glad they are there.
