So, my hubby sometimes takes his motorcycle to work and that was the case yesterday. He parked his truck in front of our home and when he left for work today there was a note on the windshield. "Do not park on the street, park in the driveway" and it was signed with our neighborhood HOA in sharpie. At first, I was like "WTF??" when he told me, then I got mad. I know for a fact the HOA would never just write a note in sharpie and stuck it on our windshield but I wanted to make sure. I called them and they concurred they would neverget out of the vehicle, that if there was an issue, they'd send us a letter. So now, being I'm new to the neighborhood, wonder why one my neighbor would do this? His truck wasn't impeding on anyone's abilityto get in or out and it was right in front of OUR house. Should I be putting a camera out and see who this imbecile is and then ask him what right he has to touch our property?? 4951

People on my small block park on the street all the time. I've driven around Kingwood at night & see many vehicles parked on the street.  You have a cranky neighbor that gets annoyed at people parking on the street, I say who cares.... I believe it's not illegal here. 4951

If your parking in front of YOUR house than it's none of their darn business. Where my parents used to live, our neighbor would park in front of OUR house cuz their house was at the bend and it drove my dad crazy. He would complain why they couldn't park across the road, but he never put notes on their trucks. That's a little insane. 4951

What pisses me off most is that they signed it as the HOA....******* wasn't brave enough to tell us face to face. Maybe it's better they didn't, my hubby would have punched him. LOL 4951

I disagree, its a pita when people up and down the street park. Weave in and out to try to pass upcoming traffic. Grrrrr I'm actually glad the movers are here on a Monday. They'd have a helluva time in the 18 wheeler on the weekend. Park in ur driveway. If ur having a party no biggie....invite us please! 4951

It can be annoying when it impedes driveways but roads are public throughways and I don't believe HOAs have any influence on people parking on them.  Maybe some deed restrictions prohibit it but they certainly can't enforce it. 4951

We have a long driveway so it's only one long pad. As I said, he took his bike so he couldn't have parked in the driveway or I wouldn't have been able to get my car out of the garage. I feel the street is perfectly fine especially in front of one's own home.  My deed restrictions do not prohibit parking on the street. 4951

Rude for a neighbor to do that.Unless the truck was parked so that the neighbor couldn't get out of their driveway.  But if that had been the case they should have knocked on your door and told you to move the truck.Neighbors do that once a week on our street.  They have visitors and the visitor are too stupid to park.  They block my driveway so that I can't get out of my driveway.  And I go knock on their door and tell them to move it every single week.  One day I am going to just gas it and beat the crap out of the morons car.  I am well insured and haven't had any claims so far this year...

I think we don't have a problem on my street, b/c there's no houses on the other side. Most people do park in front of their own house. My feeling is life is too short to worry about little annoyances. But some people let small stuff get to them.  You know the saying             don't sweat the small stuff 4951

hoa actually has no control over public streets.Do you have a neighbor that is on the hoa board or an officer, maybe misusing their authority?Oh, and guess what, it is a public street and there is no "in front my house" since it is a public street.  4951

@FoFa: I know it's a public street but what I'm saying is I was in front of my own home and not in front of anyone else's. I do not know if they are an  HOA member as I"m new to the community.

@Ally:
They aren't. They were just being pissy. Leave it in the street again but put a note on it for them telling them you are recording them messing with your property and impersonating a rep of the hoa and you intend to prosecute. Sign with a smiley face.

When both of our kids were home for summer, we had to shuffle four vehicles.  We talked to our neighbors to see if they minded that we park one of the cars in the street.  We couldn't park directly in front of our house because there is a fire hydrant there.  They had no problem with it, especially since it was just for one summer. 4951

There is a law that you can not leave a car parked in a neighborhood street for more than 72 consecutive hours. I have called the HOA and the police numerous times for cars parked in my neighborhood. One person just moved in in the past few months. He parked his truck on the street going the wrong way and near the stop sign. He had to move it to his driveway when the cops came and were going to ticket him. The truck has not moved from his driveway since them (for the past few months). So...he was going to leave it on the street indefinitely - blocking one lane, etc.? Can't anyone park their car in the garage? Or at least in their driveway? School buses and fire engines cannot maneuver around all of the cars left in the street in my neighborhood at times. 4951
