1st let me explain how this happened...we have bricks lining our sidewalks , they sit at an angle & are the border along all of our walkways. I was helping my hubby  put down top soil in the front yard along the driveway so that we could lay down sod. I was using the hand cart  to cart bags of soil from the back to the front yard. So now you have the picture....Hubby asked me to go inside & get him a glass of iced tea so I  dropped the cart & went in to get his drink , on the way into the house I misjudged the distance between my foot & the bricks & my right foot slammed into the brick at the end of the walk & broke 2 of my toes , the small one & the one next to it. I cussed like a sailor & hobbled into the house , leaving a trail of blood all the way . Not only did I break 2 toes but the brick sliced into my little toe leaving a nice deep cut across the top . The doctor said it was a clean break , but they do not set broken toes . My entire foot is black, blue & yellow & swollen ! Hubby left yesterday for Houston for the week , so I'm alone hobbling around on one foot trying to get things ready for the BBQ & pool party we are having on  Aug. 3rd . It rained all day yesterday & we have more rain on the way tonight . But I want all my gardens to look beautiful & perfect , so I'm doing what I can . Hubby will be back on Saturday to help with what I do not get done. ...sigh ....not a good time to break anything (LOL) .Guess I will have to call in the kids to give me a hand....it's so nice to know I have help & it's only a phone call away . 4951

I always wonder, if there's that much pain in a toe, what if I break my whole body? 4951

Between football, boxing, and various other martial arts, I think I have broken about every bone in my feet and hands.  Not a whole lot of remedies other than drinking and narcotics for immediate relief.  At least it's your toes.  You can wear shoes when they grow back deformed.   Break a thumb or finger and you are screwed. 4951

@TexasTideFan: True but for a girl that loves her pedicures and sandals....  deformed feet would be almost as bad as a deformed hand.....speaking for myself.

@ Texas Tide fan... I broke my ring finger on my left hand last August , my finger got caught in the dog leash & snapped it , believe it or not I never knew it was broke till the vet told me to look at my finger , it was pointing sideways (LOL) . I left the vets office & went to the hospital where it was set  into a metal splint for 8 weeks . Breaking 2 toes was a lot more painful especially since I had to deal with one of them being cut too. 4951

@ retired engineer...nope , it didn't get me out of yard work . However it did get me taken out to dinner , at least I didn't have to cook (LOL). Today I was laying down landscape timbers & lava rock , so since it was just my toes it didn't keep this ole girl from working ...not bad for 70 .....huh ? 4951

N+T oooooohhhhhh what a beautiful little girl she is , it's a good thing we moved back to Ky  or I would have her at my house all the time (LOL). About the kids (LMAO) you have got to be kidding ! They all have jobs , work all day & have no time to do anyone else's work . Now if it's time to eat they all show up (LOL) . The only one I can depend on is our oldest daughter & I would rather just do it myself (LOL) . My foot is still discolored & swollen , but it doesn't hurt like it did . I mowed the yard today & tomorrow I will weed eat since hubby is in Texas it falls back on me. So I just do it & go on about my business. 4951
