there is a texas state law,, which states
if a person takes care of land for several years, (cutting cleaning, etc,,, must take care of it for years,, have witnesses and show proof they did) and when a person or company wishes to purchase or build on such land (public or unkown owner),, they must offer to buy the land rights from the person who owned the land.

I would cut the grass every other day, make it look nice,, take pictures, tell the neighbors,,, and do all kinds of fixing up,,, then when they try to improve the lot,, ,make a legal claim of ownership,, since nobody else is taking care of it...
