He got popular for talking about how his mom didn't abort him.
@KellyG: I'd argue that he got popular because he was a ridiculously good college athlete who won the Heisman and 2 National Championships while leading his team by example. Â IMHO 3 things have worked against him:
1. Â His college schematic was run and option based. Â He's not built for the pass-happy NFL and never had a real chance at being a quality QB at this level.2. Â He's no longer playing with boys who want/need an inspirational leader to get them stoked and carry them on to the field. Â His teammates are grown men with families and debt. Â Instead of huddling up on the bench listening to his every word like they did in college, his linemen are sitting off in the corner together smoking cigarettes and playing cards wondering how much college is going to cost for that new baby on the way.3. Â The media circus created around him has almost certainly set him up for failure. Â Short of being the second coming of Johnny Unitas he never had a chance at living up to the expectations others set for him.I'm not a Tebow fan. Â I'm not a fan of religion. Â I'm not a fan of Tebow talking about his religion. Â That being said, if I put that aside and listen to the young man talk, I always hear the right things. Â He wants to be a part of team. Â He wants to win. Â He wants to do what's best for everyone. Â I know he's not shy about his beliefs but I don't think that makes him any more or less popular.Just my 2 cents. 4951
