I envision the guy writing the article is some balding pony-tail wearing environazi that hasn't been laid in 15 years. He's probably **** that he is writing for Cracked and not Mad Magazine. Maybe he used to work for the now defunct Newsweek.Anyway, cruises kick butt. 4951

We have wanted to go on a cruise for a long time.  However, the episodes over the last few years have made us very leery about cruises.  4951

@Retired_Engineer There are hundreds of cruise lines with hundreds of ship going out daily. I think the percenages are in your favor. Have you thought about a river trip on Viking or AMA Waterways? That seems like something you would like. 4951

@mm4731 What time of year do you want to go? That will determine what part of the world. There are many classes of ships: Mass Market (Think Carnival) to Luxury (Crystal). Where do you want to embark? If out of Houson/Galveston you only have 4 lines to choose from in 2014.Most people start with the Caribbean first. Beween the heat and weather (summertime) I would do that cruise in late fall or early spring. If going from HoustonGalveston I would reccomend  Royal Caribbean or Norwegian Cruise Line (2014). Also, Step up and get a balcony room too. Inside cabins are horrible. If a cruise line offers a drink package take it. Also get trip insurance. Lastly, take shore excursions - but sign up for them way before you take your cruise. Otherwise you will be standing in line on the day of embarkation instead of getting your drink on. 4951
