I'm not good at it. It's a man's job!

I put a lot of miles on my car. It's holding up at 90,000 miles. Being told I should consider shocks, struts, and differential service.
Breaks still good and found out I don't have a timing belt - it's a chain so it's ok.

I don't want a car note so I better take care of this one. Sigh. 4951

90K isn't too bad. Do you know anyone that can help with maintenance? 4951

Take your car to a shop and tell them you are thinking about buying it from someone else. Pay the the $50 to tell you what it needs now and what it will need in six months.  That way you will get a more straightforward answer. 4951

@lola: all are reasonable suggestions with that mileage. The differential service at many shops is only about $25 or so per differential.

I think you have 2. I don't remember if yours Is 4x4 or not. if it is I also recommend you flush the transfer case.

another thing, I know how you treat and drive your car and can honestly say that none of the listed recommends are urgent at all. take your time and shop around. 4951

@squirtismyboy:

Not a 4x4. Thanks J. I got the quote on the shocks and struts so I will do some comparison shopping. Only the front had signs of leakage so no big hurry. I will probably wait until January. 4951

@lola: I have used Beasley's for years with no probelms. You may want to give them a call. Ask for Ray or Casey.www.tirebuddy.com

I have 260K on mine.  I do all the regular maintenance and it is still running greatEmoticonWay cheaper to do this stuff as needed than having a car note every month.

@Fallon:

This is why chain drive will always be better than belts. 4951

What kind of car and engine size? I'm in a dodge ram hitting 210k. I had bought 4 shocks and had them install for 80.00 and in and out in 20 mins... and front struts on a mini van labor 40.00. Sorry dont use auto repair shops for light repairs at 85.00 an hour...same shop got 4 new 20"coopers for 756.23 out the door, others over 900.00 for the same tire 4951

This week I'm told by a nice driver who honked at me as we waited for a light to change that I have no brake lights - only the one on my back window lights up.  Do you all think it's related to the work I had done at NTB?  I might go back there and have them check it out.
