Kingwood or Humble, really anywhere 20-25 miles from Kingwood would be acceptable. I need a recomendation for family counseling.
Also if you have had any bad experiences. Or heard of any.. I need to get my kids and myself started ASAP.
Thank you in advance.

We have United Health Care Insurance

I would recommend contacting the Kingwood Pines Hospital.  They have full staff of psychiatrists and offer 24/7 child and adult psychiatric care and counseling.  281-404-1001.  www.kingwoodpines.com.  Not sure on what all insurances they take, you would have to call them on that.

Good luck. 4951

I would Not recommend Dr Pradeep Roy who is ( or at least was years ago) associated with Kingwood Pines. He kept us waiting for over on hour on 2 occasions and then was quite rude when I suggested that MY time was worth money too and that perhaps he needed some time management skills. I really felt bad for the Mom in the waiting room who was after us and her young child was literally tearing the place down- and she was doing everything she could to keep him under control. I'm also not fond of Red Oak. We like Dr Schoonmaker in the Woodlands- he had a bit of a wait but not too bad. Problem is he had a stroke almost 2 years ago and psychiatric nurses are covering for him. We're trying a new doc this week- cant remember his name- but I was impressed with his staff so far. Will post a review 4951

Nooooo NOT Dr. Ginsberg- he took my son off all of his meds- causing him to have a psychotic break and ended up in the psychiatric hospital and then had the nerve to tell my dh in front of the nursing staff that my husband and I were the sick ones and that our son was normal. After my dh demanded my son's release and Dr. Ginsberg left, a nurse pulled my dh aside and said some extremely unflattering things about Dr. Ginsberg and then proceeded to tell my dh to wait until our son turned 18 ( which was 6 months from that point) and take him downtown and dump him. WTH????? My dh yanked our son out of there it made the staff's head spin.. That's when we found Dr. Schoonmaker who found the right drugs in the right amounts to keep the manic phases under control. I wouldn't let Ginsberg treat my dog! 4951

I agree, my family has had problems with Dr. Ginsberg.  I would avoid him, and also Dr. Roy, as someone mentioned earlier.  I go to Dr. Sunkerreddi, and have been pleased with him. 4951

@Zokomo: THANK You- that's who we're seeing next week- I've hears some good things about him. The psych nurse who we were seeing while Dr S rehabbed recommended him- she's sees patients for Dr Sunykreddi ( sp??). Since my D's is stable we just need med refills

@Jpgurl:  I second your recommendation AGAINST Dr Pradeep Roy.  I liked my previous doctor but my medical coverage changed and my old doc wasn't covered.  I tried Roy and he changed my medication to some very strong addictive meds that put me in the emergency room.  No apology or anything from him.  I also noticed that he overbooks patients so there is always a wait.  He is just a pill-pusher.  He even lied to me and told me he could not write a prescription for an anti-anxiety med for 90 days.  I went back to my old doc even though I have to pay cash (and I see him every three months just for monitoring and to refill my prescription)His name is Ashok Khushalani and he is in a small house-turned-office in Humble.  His phone is 281-446-9216.  He's a great doctor and he has tons of common sense and a sense of humor.  His office manager, Susan, can be a bit odd, but he's worth it.

@Ambyr Sounds like you want more of a counseling place than a Psychiatrist.  Some Psychiatrists do psychotherapy along with medication management, but a good number of them don't.  If you think someone in your family is in need of medication, you should consider a Psychiatrist.   I would start with a Psychologist that offers family therapy. Atascosita Counseling Associates offers this I believe. Elizabeth Hill there is wonderful! She is fantastic with kids. I know bad things about Kingwood Pines so stay away from there.  Best of luck to you ! 4951
