I used to think that we had a really safe community where not much ever really happens.  Out of curiosity I signed up for email crime alerts and wow - did I get an eye opener.   Never knew so much was going on. If you are interested the site is spotcrime.com.  You type in  your home address and it asks if you want email alerts.  I get one each day and it really is an eye opener.    4951

I've been in Kingwood for almost 20 years.  There has always been some level of crime.  It tends to increase when school is out.  Our crime rate is still relatively low compared to many other areas of Houston. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: That's exactly the way I used to think until I started getting the daily reports.

@jschiner: so did you sign up for daily reports for other areas too in order to compare it. I'm betting Kingwood still does better than 80% other communities, especially in violent crimes.

No, But my friend did and his area is a lot better.  I usually don't judge a place as being better than another due to crime rate.  If you have a lot of burglaries, thefts and robberies as Kingwood does I'd say we have too much.  My village, Hunters Ridge, pays for the Sheriffs patrol and it  really shows on the lower amount of reported crime.Do you have something to do with the Police?  Can't understand why you'd defend our crime rate because you think it's lower than others.  Get the report and see..Again, I was blind to this until I started seeing our problems. 4951

@jschiner:   Why do you torture yourself with reports on every single crime???  This will make you paranoid.  Yes, there may be some select areas that have a lower crime rate.  Wo ho.  Good for them.  If it bothers you, you are free to move there.  Try going to SpotCrime.com and plug in some zip-codes for inside the 610 loop, then you'll be glad you live in Kingwood.  I agree with mpjp0907,  this is a Emoticon  issue. 4951

@jschiner:   And how does being paranoid prevent your home from being robbed?  How does monitoring every crime report do anything?  I readily admitted that there is crime in Kingwood and that it has increased.  So you suddenly came to the revelation that there is more crime than you thought, so the world should shiver in your shadow and wonder at your revelation?!?!

@Retired_Engineer: Why don't you get off your butt and get the report or do you always criticize things you know nothing about?

@jschiner:   I've been aware of that website for several years and I am very familiar with the crime rates in the area.  I don't follow them every day as it is unnecessary (and will make you paranoid).  I can't help it if YOU suddenly learned something and want to act like a messiah with news for the down-trodden masses.  Get off your high horse.
