How much more would you go downtown?  How much more would you go to Astro, Aeros, or Texans games.  No worries of a DUI.  Traffic would decline, and a lot more revenue to downtown would increase.  I think Houston is the 4th largest city in the US.  Why would the city not have a bigger rail systems? 4951

@JJ: I believe the feds are looking into a high speed rail line/train between Houston & Dallas, if I am not mistaken? 4951

Wow, that would be cool for everyone, especially @dcowboys.  Does Dallas have a rail system?  I'm thinking no.  How cool would it be to take a train to downtown Houston?  They have a lot of cool restaurants and bars down there. 4951

@DCowboys: There was funding approved a few months back by the NTSB to do a feasability study on a rail line/high speed train between downtown Houston & Dallas. I'll see if I can find the link......... 4951

@JJ: no sir, just a little tired, I guess, lol! I DON'T drink have not touched alcohol since January 28, 1988 the night I almost put my 84' ford thunerbird through a huge oak tree in uptown New Orleans @ Carrolton & St.Charles avenues. After that experience, it just was not worth risking and besides alcohol tastes nasty ( at least to me it does...JMO)!! 4951

Rail in this area of the country is just stupid. No wait, it is dumber than stupid. Population centers shift in the south shift unlike in larger northern cities where they are static. Also, in larger northern cities, population centers are highly dense (many high rise residences as opposed to large spread out subdivisions).

Once a rail is laid, it isn't going anywhere. If the population shifts, then you have a rail that does not serve anyone. Busses are mulch more efficient, much more flexible, and billions less expensive.

The original rail in Houston that basically goes from nowhere to nowhere and pretty much serves no one, cost 800 million dollars!!!!!! 4951
