Why is it...that everyone feels the need to ask me if I'm ready to be a mom?? Why do other moms think it's soooo funny to tell you how much you're NOT going to know what you're doing??

Is anyone ever really ready to be a parent? Why do people want to make it out to be like you're going to suck at it? Do they forget that they were once a first time parent too?

Why can't women be encouraging with each other about this? It's scary enough without other people telling you how much life is going to suck.

So annoying! 4951

It's hard but it's also the most amazing, important, rewarding thing you will ever do and it's worth all of the hard stuff!  It will make you a better person, look at the world in a completely different way, grow you up and change your perspective on so many things!  Don't let the negative comments get to you.  4951

to be honest...i'm not really worried about it. people have kids all the time and do just fine! plus, i have LOTS of experience with little kids from teaching ages 2 1/2 to 6 for 5 years, and i was a nanny for a little girl that was 3 months old when i started watching her. she's 10 now...so i obviously didn't do too bad of a job! i have a good idea of what it takes, not that it won't be hard...because i know it will! but i'm also not 16...i'm 28, so i think i will be ok!

it's just crazy to me how other women think it's hilarious to tell you that you're not going to know what you're doing.

Don't worry about it.  You'll NEVER be completely ready to be a mom.  It's training-on-the-job. 4951

thanks guys. i think i'll survive! haha!

it's just sad to me that women are like that to each other. almost like, i went through hell, so i find humor in telling others how they're going to do the same. it's just not cool! 4951

I think it's a sign of how unhappy people are in general.   Who takes pleasure in making someone else feel bad or anxious?  A miserable person, that's who. 4951

yep taramay, it sucks!

i got so tired of the "enjoy your time now, better get used to no sleep, you're getting so big, ...blah blah blah".  i had a co-worker tell me one day "omg, you're huge"  my response was, umm, yeah i am like 39 weeks pregnant lady!

and no, you're never really ready to have kids.  i'm still not ready for some of the things my two year old does! 4951

maybe they just do it, because someone did it to them. paybacks!

i also love it when people ask, "they say you're kids will be twice as difficult as you were. are you ready for that?" 4951
