i'm with fallon on this one.

i like HEB, but it's further away from where i live and i just don't know the store layout that well.  i can get in and out faster at Kroger.  HEB advertises that they are less expensive though.

i've only been in the walmart neighborhood store a couple of times.  they don't carry some of the products that i really like.

randalls is nice, but expensive.  i've heard their meat specials are really good.  and they do carry my "weird size" ac filters for WAY less than anyone else!

in an ideal world, i would have time to shop at kroger for my main stuff, walmart for cheap snacks, randalls or the new meat market for meat, and HEB for produce and speciality items.  oh and cvs and walgreens too.   but...i have a 7 month old and a 2 year old, so i barely have time to make one grocery trip! lol 4951

anytime i run into kroger (because it's closer to me) i end up spending WAY more than i would at HEB. I like to go after work during the week because it's less crowded. 4951

HEB is cheaper. But i do have a Kroger Credit card that has rewards which pay off pretty well in addition to coupons in the mail. As far as Randalls goes, only for emergencies. They need to move on so we can get a Whole Foods. Ijs 4951

I'm a Randall's shopper.  I spend more at HEB and it's usually a headache.  The parking and the layout of the store are difficult to navigate, especially with a cart with the kiddie seat attached.  I've had too many bad experiences with bad meat and produce at Kroger and Walmart and won't go back.  Randall's is clean, easy to navigate, has everything I need and is never crowded.  Getting in and out of the parking lot is easy and there is always plenty of parking. 4951

i love HEB. they have a great selection of ethnic foods...which i appreciate. their meat selection could be better...but i'm not a big meat eater, so it doesn't really bother me too much. the staff is always super friendly too. i can get food and house stuff for a week for around $100 (usually less) for ken and i. i think that's pretty good! 4951

I'm a Randalls guy. Sure they are a little more expensive, but the meat is better quality and its close to my house and easy to get in and out.

@cindyy:  I guess you can see from the variety of answers that there is no easy answer.  If we just look at your  question "Which is cheaper?",  then I think the answer is either HEB or Super Walmart. However, when you factor in convenience, availability of favorite brands, etc, etc, people choose something else.  My wife hits the Super Walmart about once a month for canned goods, frozen foods, etc.  Then she will go to either Krogers or Randalls for meats, fresh vegetables, etc. depending on the weekly sales papers. 4951

I just shop at Walmart because they price match. So say apples are 99cents a lb at heb then u can get them for the same price at Walmart. U just have to be organized. I just got 3 gallons of milk there for 1.49 a gal Emoticon 4951
