My 9 year old AND my husband need to go to the doctor ASAP. We just moved here in the last 7 months. My son has a raised birthmark and I think it may be a little bigger it it may be a bit more raised in the last 6 months or so. My husband had been taking a medication to help him fall asleep and has been out of it for about 4 months. Just need to establish a new doc basically. But concerned about my son's birthmark.. Please let me know. Our insurance requires us to 1st go to a Dr., then get a referral.. THANKS! 4951

We looked for a Family Practitioner that would see our entire family when we first moved here and couldn't find one that would also see infants and children under 10.  We ended up with our kids at Kingwood Pediatrics and have been pleased with everyone in that practice.  Dh and I  and our oldest go to Dr. Chu. 4951

I'd start by finding all of the family practitioners that accept your insurance and then call to see if they will see both of them.  I don't think Dr. Lugo is accepting new patients.  He wasn't when we were looking a few years ago. 4951

Good!  I should probably warn you that she's pretty hesitant to prescribe sleep meds.  She will want him to make some lifestyle changes first.  Someone that I referred to her got upset because she wouldn't prescribe them without them trying other methods first.  I like that about her but others may not. 4951

My wife tried Dr. Lothian and said never again.  She said Lothian was basically a robot who treated her like an assembly line.  Other people may have better experiences, but that's just our's.  We found Dr. Allan Daniels whose office is west of Kingwood Medical Center in one of those professional buildings.  His number is 281-312-8521.  We previously went to Dr. Thomas Williamson at Kelsey who was awesome, but here's the deal with Kelsey in Kingwood:  Anyone that is really good moves up to the Medical Center - which is what happened with him.  Also Dr. Daniels is an internal med doc and pediatrics as well, so you can get him for your child too if you have children. 4951

@AstroKing: Maybe she got her on a bad day or something, She has always been very personable and great with me, she has even been giving me pointers for extra little things to do to help me get into medical school.

We have lived in KW for the past 5 years and up until recently had just utilized the ER Clinics for issue (rarely) when they came up.  About a year back DW and I decided it was time to seek a family Dr. for reasons of having someone familiar with history and we chose Dr. Chu based on KDC feedback; for our family it was a huge mistake. DW at the time was dealing with extreme anxiety and panic attacks that had surfaced from traumatic issues embedded in her past.   My ins. is Cigna but she has Tricare (military medicare) and as such her options typically remain a bit more restricted than mine.   We built a history with Dr. Chu for approximately six months prior to these events. On inception I had to take DW to the hospital because she thought she was having a heart attack; it was indeed a very severe anxiety issue.   The hospital ran a full panel and forwarded to Dr. Chu and also prescribed DW Xanax to knock down the issues until she could get into therapy and also a Psychiatrist (6-7 weeks out from initial date of issue).   Dr. Chu reluctantly prescribed an additional week of medicine and also requested weekly office visits until DW could see her Dr.-- IMO a clear scheduling to milk us for all that we could pay for subsequent office visits just to gain a prescription on a weekly basis.   Dr. Chu also decided to prescribe DW Luvox because she thought it would work.  After one day DW was out of her mind and incoherent due to this med. Subsequently Chu cut her off the Xanex as she noted "she didn't want to treat a problem and also create another one (ie. this is a drug that can sometimes develop dependency). In the meantime DW spent about two weeks of evenings on the wood floors of our household shaking herself in panic similar to that of what looked like a mild seizure.  When she finally got to see her Psy. he put her back on the same and she has been very good ever since for the past three months in conjunction with therapy to address issues at hand. We've since moved to Mary Canvar Johnson office in KW and what a great experience. The appointments are consultative, her staff is phenomenal and the associate Dr. staff is also just as proficient.  Further, we felt that they listened to our concerns, allowed questions and lastly DW wasn't made to feel like a junkie requesting medicine that has helped her through so far.   Lastly, every time we went to Chu we waited for at least an hour and the office/waiting area was not busy.  In the latter we were in within 20 minutes and out in less than an hour and more than satisfied.  Dr. Chu's office is also fairly dirty and on my last visit I noticed dirty exam gloves that were shoved underneath the patient room bed--gross!    I'm sticking with MCJ's office and as a family we will never look back. IMO Dr. Chu must have had a patient that she either mis-diagnosed or perhaps they were an addict that OD'd and she missed it--hence the extreme caution to prescribe.  No thank you.   4951
