I have 2 dogs which I would like to give to a new home.
#1 is a boxer, she is loving and playful. She loves to run, good with kids.
#2 is a mix mutt, not sure exactly, looks a little sharpei and bull dog,,, very calm and quiet, loves attention, but is shy.
Both dogs are outside dogs. We have recently moved and just dont have the room for them. 4951

Those two dogs should not be living outside, especially being brachycephalic breeds and having single coats with no protection against the sun on their skin. I hope they find a great home soon. Do a vet reference check and a home visit to weed out the weirdos and animal abusers. 4951

Good luck trying to find homes for your dogs as every shelter and rescue is full.

Maybe you should have thought long & hard before making a commitment to get dogs.

It's not right to get rid of them simple because you no longer want them or don't have the space to keep them. Sorry if I sound harsh, but there are too many dogs getting rehomed and the rescue groups & individuals are taking on the responsibility trying to find these pets new homes, not fair to them or the dogs! 4951

why don't you foster the two dogs threw an organization like www.twyla.org or somewhere until you can find a good home for them. I agree, I realize that things change in people life but I guess some people don't see animals as big commitment, when really it's the same a child. You should not have an animal unless you are prepared to take on the task of a child, you wouldn't just dump your child with any old road hard sally would you???? Then why give your dogs away for free????? shame on you.    4951

How much room do two dog's need? I have friends living in apartments who have had 3 - 4 huskies. They get a good walk 2x a day and are happy as clams laying on the floor napping most of the day. The horror of being dumped with another family and wondering why you don't love them anymore is something I hate to see...but, being in rescue I see it everyday. We have become a throwaway society...sad. Don't even want to get started on the "outside dog" thing. How sad these dogs weren't considered part of your family. I would live in a tent with my dog's before I get rid of them. Anyway, please contact an all breed rescue and ask their help in rehoming them. They will do a vet check, home visit and a contract to make sure the next home will love them forever and treat them with the respect they deserve. Every dog we get in our rescue is heart worm positive, full of other worms and usually has mange...do you want to take a chance the home you find doesn't vet them regularly? Or ties them up? Or is to cheap tp do heartworm prevention? All our rescue's dog's were once someone's pet...and they neglected or abused them horribly. Be careful...do the
work to make sure the new owner's will take care of them. Our rescue calls their vet to check if they took their existing/previous pets in for their shots, heart worm prevention. The Vet will gladly look up their paperwork and tell you if they were responsible pet owners..they appreciate our caring and
vigilance for the dog's. Check their home to see if the fencing is good and make sure they will sleep inside. Dogs shouldn't be left out in the heat or thunderstorms...it terrifies them. Also outside dogs
are helpless if someone wants to walk by and shoot them with bb guns..I've seen that several times, and worse. They can't run in the house and hide if some miscreants want to harm them. After we
get a dog adopted we follow up to make sure the new owners honor our contract. If they don't, we seize the dog back. We just got one back that the owner let the collar get imbedded in her
neck...they were too cheap to by a new one as she grew. These people live in a $250,000 home.
You can't be too careful. Have them microchip the dog so if it gets out he/she can be returned. Gppd luck. 4951

At least he or she is coming on here, and making an effort to try to find them a good home instead of just dumping them at the pound, or on the side of the road somewhere......you know there are plenty of heartless people that just dump their "beloved" pets in that manner.

To the OP- maybe it would help if you posted a couple of picks?  Hopefully you didn't get scared off, and I really hope you are able to find your dogs a good home or do what you need to do  to be able to keep them. 4951

You are right...I do appreciate that they are trying to find them homes instead of dumping them. I just wish they would consider dogs don't need a lot of room, just to be loved all their lives by the humans who got them. I do give them them kudos for rehoming them. I know I get frustrated, I spend two days a week with dog's turned in to die and it gets to you. To the op, sorry if I was harsh. Good luck..hope they find terrific homes. 4951

I guess I was sort of rude as well, I just don't think you should EVER GIVE your dogs away. That's how they end up abused. 4951

If u rescue & foster many dogs you get tired of peoples excuses on why they can no longer keep their dogs or cats. I'm sorry, but you should think about the lifetime commitment to that animal before giving them away.

I have 1 dog that is mine, the rest are peoples throw aways. I am sick & tired of it. Having a pet is a choice, if you are not in it for the long haul, don't get one.

As for people who dump them, no excuse! It's sorry, but most people dump them hoping someone else will find them and give them a good home. People tend to dump them near nice subdivisions or schools thinking their animal will find a home. The people who dump them in remote areas need to be locked up! They are ignorant & cruel. 4951

No one expects hard times when they purchase their pet and I am sure the last thing they want to do is dump them. But if it came between my family's quality of life and the dog, I would find the dog a new place to live, then take it to a shelter. As for "outside dogs". My dog loves being in the yard. We bring her in at night or when it is raining. When we do bring her in she wants to go right back outside. Either to chase squirrels, birds or to just sit and protect. Basically she knows she is a dog and not a 4 legged child. 4951

The fact is when you are in rescue, you get so many calls, emails, etc. from individuals who wish or can no longer care for their animals.  It's alarming quite frankly.  I guess I was raised to be responsible with my pets, when I adopt a cat/dog, I think of them as a family member.  I would never give them away simply because they were an inconvenience.  I understand, if you serve in the armed forces and you get called to duty, you have to find someone who can care for your pet while you are gone or rehome them altogether or if you have a terminal disease, you have no choice.  However, if you move to another city or state, take your damn pet!!  If you are on hard times, ask for help, people have big hearts and come together to help those who have pets in need.  I have seen it time and time again.I have several dogs, I have made sacrifices both personal & financial to care for my dogs and all the strays I find.  You just get to a point where you get tired of cleaning up other peoples problems.  I have 1 dog of my own, the rest are abandoned dogs and cats other people dumped.  In my subdivision, there are still cats that are not neutered.  It's insane to get a dog or cat and let them run loose on your street without spaying or neutering.  I blame the owners 100%.  Pet overpopulation has become such a problem in Houston.  There are areas of town you can drive thru, and dogs are running rampant all over the place.  It's called the Corridor of Cruelty.  It's in a low income area, and it's like driving thru a Third World Country.  Dead dogs everywhere......in Houston.Anyway, I just wish people would think long & hard before getting a dog or cat.  It's a lifetime commitment.  Right now the SPCA is not taking any animals due to capacity.  There are so many animals needing homes and there are few homes to be had, so trying to find a home for your pet is going to be like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack! 4951

My dogs live inside, this is Texas after all, yet I still walk them on a leash and they pee and poop on grass. I don't wipe their butts and I don't spoon feed them, they know they are dogs Emoticon 4951
