Photo attached of the Blue and White chihuahua female "Zydi" that we are trying to locate.  She is microchipped.  She was offered for sale on craigslist to a person who promised to give her a Forever HOme and then immediately posted her for sale.  Please contact us if you have any information on "Zydi".

I'm gonna ask, do you or not breed these animals for money? why were you giving away the dog in the fist place? I think you may have lost some sympathy because we don't have the facts. I know I am wondering if the dog may now be in a better home. 4951

Sweety, it appears you have a dislike of breeders.  I am an AKC Breeder of Merit which means I have bred many many champions, have years invested in the betterment of the breed and belong to a breed club.  I have done rescue and offered my services during times of disaster.  I placed her because I wanted her to have a forever home.  Most ethical breeders do this. Unfortunately, in todays sorry society, there are people who distort the truth and are scammers as there are people like you who like to "sling mud".  Zydi was bred two times and produced two AKC Grand Champions, one of which was shown at Westminster a couple of years ago. She was a member of our family and we will pursue getting her returned to us.  People who breed champion show dogs have many many thousands of dollars invested and rarely make a profit.  Just like in show horses, ect.  Major business in the US and brings in billions of dollars for the economy. We recently spent $2000 for bladder stone surgery for an older spayed pekingese. WOULD YOU HAVE ?????  My guess is PROBABLY NOT!  I am only interested in constructive comments from mature individuals who might be able to recognize Zydi and help us get her back home.  There is a lawsuit pending to bring this person to justice. 4951

All BooBear did was ask the questions that many of us have been wondering. YOUR rudeness could have been done without. You definitely lost my sympathy. Let's hope you're better with dogs than you are with people. 4951

@BEVO:

Ditto. Spent $4k getting a steel rod put in our old German shepard's arm (doggy heaven now) after finding her on the side of the road thrown out of a moving vehicle. That holier than thou attitude because she breeds dogs though is for the birds. 4951

She's absolutely beautiful. I am sorry for you that this has happened. I wish you luck in getting your dog returned and in your lawsuit against this person.  Aparently he is a low life who has done this to others.  4951

So you placed your dog in a "forever" home because she was no longer able to breed and benefit you personally. Why don't you just say it instead of trying to come across as a martyr?

I hate to say it, but I think you kind of got what you deserved. The dog is NO LONGER YOURS now. Stop referring to her as such (with the whole microchip stuff, acting like she was stolen from you, etc.). You're the one who placed the ad craigslist (lol) and irresponsibly handed her over to a complete stanger. It ends there. Just hope your dog doesn't have to pick up the tab for your lazy and irresponsible actions. 4951

What was the name of your Westminster shown dog? the problem is that no one believes you. you could have raised/bred lassie but that doesn't help anyone to understand why you gave away a family pet to a stranger??? it obviously wasn't for financial reasons, so why? another thing, you have no idea of my personal situation. you know what they say about 'assuming'. sweetIE. 4951

Unfortunately Doodlebug, I hope the Chi is in a good home....(not saying your is not), just that she is being cared for properly.Did you have a contract with this person that you gave her to?  I really don't see how you could press charges if you didn't have a signed contract.....If you did, then Go Get Them!!  If not, I really don't see how you can say she is still yours, and press charges....not sure how that would legally work...I had a horse that I gave away, b/c he could not be ridden any more (a beautiful paint horse that is only 6).  He was a rescue when I got him, and was going to keep him forever...but I decided he was better off being a pasture pet for someone else, b/c I could only afford 1 horse and wanted one that I could ride....BUT, to make a long story at least a little shorter, I had a multi-page contract DETAILING everything that was expected of the people...and I mean everything.  I hope it all works out for the best. 4951

Ok, guys. I think people can come to their own conclusions now, and that doddlebug understands how a lot of you feel about this situation. I don't want KDC to become a place where other members are singled out and endlessly attacked. Let's give it a rest.

This is an unfortunate situation, and I pray this little dog went to a good home, but a reputable breeder does not have to advertise their dogs on Craigslist or any other ad.

Their litters are usually spoken for before the puppies are even born. It is ignorant to meet someone and give them a dog unless you or someone you know knows the potential adopter. With that saids, if you don't know the person from Adam's house cat, then you need to check vet records, personal references and a home check. This doesn't always ensure the dog is going to a good home, but usually if a person is willing to wait for you to verify their info and then pay an adoption fee, then the chances are better for the dog.

Personally, with all the dogs needing homes, why are people still breeding dogs $$$??? 4951

@wallacepups: There are plenty of legitimate reasons, and ethical breeders do not do it to make a profit. Their goals are not dollar signs, far from it. It is not the good breeders' faults that there are so many unwanted dogs out there. That plague was bestowed upon us by backyard breeders, puppy mills, puppy brokers, and irresponsible owners. If those types of people did not exist then we wouldn't have this overpopulation crisis. Good breeders operate with strict rules, policies, and contracts, much like ethical rescues.

NO ethical breeder lists their dogs on Craigslist...EVER! Even RESCUES would NEVER list their dogs on Craigslist. All of us in this business know that. No ethical breeder would NOT have a contract, do a home check or vet check. Basic stuff. 4951
