I think that Burnsaway is just fed up with people getting pets THEN deciding oh, I can't take care of this. Getting a pet isn't like getting a pair of shoes. But some folks act before they think. Pets take space, time, and money. I still don't know why people do not know this before they get a pet.You see so many people get labs, then can't handle the chewing, the digging, etc. The people do not bother to research what they are getting into. Labs in particular, are people dogs. If they are left outside they are going to be destructive. They are puppies for 2 years and are flat out destructive during this time. But by year 3 and on they are the best pets ever
But if you leave a lab outside and not have them around you, they do get bored and dig. Then you see an ad, how wants a free dog? UGH.Same thing with bunnies. I rescued one, and you would not believe the folks who have to have one for their child at Easter, only to realize, oh no, this animal has got to go. Bunnies are not pets to have around small children. THey are like cats, sweet only when they want to be. We love ours, but we knew what we were getting into. And if we didn't know, we would suck it up and deal with it. Not get rid of it.
@Fallon: Yep ...:-) Animals are not humans but they are not free boxes and trash to just swing by and get free by a complete stranger either. Also I was speaking of the forums classifieds, I don't read the paper. There are a ton of them under wanted then free! I wonder if people are even aware that dog fighters love the free Doggies sections for bait dogs and cats are used often in cults.
