People crack me up!!!!  Lady just walks in with 2 dogs... I tell her we don't open till 9 but she can bring in dogs anyway.  I don't see this lady on our books though.  I ask her if she has appointments.  No she says.  Oh, well we are booked today.  She want's to know why all the groomers are closed this early in the morning.  The last time she found a place early in the morning on a Saturday at last minute, they were to expensive (they charge same as me).  So let me get this straight.  She wants to just walk in with her dogs, expect to get them groomed at last minute on a Saturday and complain about price?  Ummmm who does this?!  Did she ever think about picking up a phone and calling around for price check and availability?  Poor dogs... no telling what kind of groomers they have had working on them since the woman obviously doesn't care who grooms them as long as they are cheap and accomidating.  You get what you pay for! 4951

I have 3 real dogs ...poodles.....10 lbs.---15 lbs. & 30 lbs.  2 toys & a minature ...they have real teeth too ! However , that being said ... I get them groomed every 6 weeks at   "Dog Gone Stylin" & trust me I make my appts. in advance better for everyone including my "real dogs". Anyone that does not "care enough" for their pets to "think ahead" are not only being inconciderate & rude to the groomer but they are not very good pet parents at all...JMO..... 4951

Yes, WJo... we know you get your 3 poodles groomed at Dog Gone Stylin.  You have made that very clear in many many many of your post... lol  However I dont' work at Dog Gone Stylin but other groomers have told me that Lisa over there can not stand me... Not sure why since I have never met her before but I get that a lot from many other groomers.  Anyway...... I'm a fairly new groomer in the are but have been grooming 13 years and I'm not used to people just wanting to walk in or to wait so long between grooms.  My clients back home would book their dogs appointments for the year every 1,2, or 4 weeks.  I did have a few that would do every 6 weeks because they just couldn't afford to do anymore than that.  I'm adjusting to the difference but geeeeezzzz sometimes I just so annoyed with the people that expect so much for so little without one thought given to their pets.  I would never just drop my dogs off with anyone, not knowing anything about them or asking questions.  I'm amazed at the many people around here that do that.  I love it when I get questioned to death about how I'll care for their doggies while in my care!  4951

Not to be rude, because I don't know you, but it may not be a good idea to ***** at or about people that could be potential clients for you on a public forum. 4951

I'm not saying it's not a valid complaint, but if I were looking for a groomer I probably wouldn't pick one that complains about customers on a public forum. Just my opinion. 4951

I didn't find that rude. I rarely vent but sometimes I just have to. Anyway, I'm not your typical groomer.  I don't just take any client.  I do dogs on a VERY limitted basis.  I don't take EVERY single dog that walks through the door because I'm afraid of losing business.  I love what I do and don't feel like the dogs that have appontments should get less attention from me because I wanted to take in an extra dog.  I have GREAT clients that cater to their pets that understand and like this about me.  Anyone who treats groomers the way this lady did me or sees their pets as the last to be taken care of at the last minute is NOT a potential client of mine.  Success to me is not looking to get rich... but in the end having only clients that love their pets and never having to dread going to work.  I do get what your saying though about venting in a public forum but I chose to vent here because unlike Atascocita.com the Kingwood people really seem to understand that pets are family members, not just posesions.  Sorry if I offended you though. 4951

Everyone has to vent sometimes! Some people just don't think. Probably the same people that let their dogs pee all over the floor at pet stores. Haha! I just don't want your clients to think you talk bad about them, because I'm sure you don't. I'm not very good at holding my tongue, which is why I don't own my own business! 4951

I can see your point petstylist.....I was a dog groomer "in a former life" - while I went back to school for my teaching certificate.  I loved that job!  Anyway, the groomer I worked for (outside of Seattle, Wa) had been at her shop for many, many years....She was also one of the more expensive around.  BUT, you did not get a bad groom from her shop - ever....she would not let a dog leave w/o it being "perfect".....She did have to stand her ground many times against some rude people that would "yell" at her for not fitting them in, etc.....  She would book for weeks in advance....always booked solid at her shop, and there were 4 of us groomers working for her. 4951

Thanks Wjo for supporting Dog Gone Stylin, as you know I love my job, havent been grooming as long as petstylist, its the first time Ive ever been so happy and hard working.  @petstylistI dont know you and have no reason to dislike you, just as gossip goes one cant believe everything you hear.  Im rarely on this forum, too busy, I have wonderful customers and their pups love to come see ms lisa  Im very fortunate to have Julie with me for a year now.  Most ppl Ive employed are happy to be working with me, we try to laugh and have fun all day, if I dont get the feeling their happy working for me, I suggest they go somewhere else, its too important to be stress free when grooming, pups can sense that and it only scares them!  I often send customers your way or even petite dog salon.  In my opinion there are enuff pups in the community for all groomers and its like any business ppl use ppl they like, some dont like me. There are three of us grooming, so I try to let everyone use their skills and get paid.  If Im booked I point out other grooming businesses, often telling them what business is new and can possibly take them on short notice.  Good luck to your growing business! 4951

I agree pupeep, there are plenty of people in need of groomers and plenty of pups for all of us. I've onle been in this area and in business for a little over a year so it's been hard for me to adjust to the difference. I've been very fortunate to be so successful in such a short time and stay booked most of the time. I haven't received any referrals from you but appreciate them anyhow. We are quite a distance from each other and most don't really like to travel more than 10 minutes away for a groomer. Lol. That's why I couldn't really understand why you didn't like me when I heard that. I'm glad to know its not true. I know of Petite Dogs that you sleek of.. In fact Linda is the one that said you didn't like me but I should have known she was just stirring stuff up since she used to work for me and was very angry when I let her go. So angry that she opened a shop right next door to me to try and take clients from me. It's okay though, I have actually gained clients from her. It's sad really, because where I come from groomers work together to bring the best possible care to all pets come to us and we help keep each other educated on the latest and safest grooming techniques. It's a little competitive around here. Quite silly. anyway, thank you for your well wishes on my new business. 4951
