For the people who have been in Kingwood for a long time. We have been here 29 years. My kids were very young when we moved here~ 1 and 4 years old. The oldest remembers there being a bridge that crossed over HWY 59 at Northpark. I do not remember this and I would have been the one driving back then. Also, was there also a crossover at Kingwood Drive? If they were there, when did the crossover(s) go away?

Was 59 an elevated freeway then? I'm thinking it wasn't and there could have been a bridge over it.

Yes, there was a bridge where Northpark went over 59 in the early to mid 2000s. 59 was not elevated and was only two lanes each way then. I don't remember about Kingwood Drive, I took Northpark every morning.
Edit: Found a story in the Chronicle. The reconstruction was finished and Northpark went under 59 in September 2006.

Ah, found it. Kingwood drive also went over 59 until the same reconstruction.

#msg6048092TEXASGIRLMAMMA Capybara : would have been nice of them to show photos before demolition
i moved up here then and i vaguely remember but since all the changes that memory is vague.
I n the 80-90 period i worked agency and had a client in the back of kingwood. I vaguely remember 59 being 2 lane up here and bridges but for the life of me can not visualize it anymore with all the new stuff. I remember they took away the nice easy curve to the right and put the lakes in and made the turn a sharp 90 degree.
😜‼️. We moved here in 1978. At that time you entered 59 north or southbound from Kingwood Drive at grade. No bridges then! Those of us who had to use this method were referred to as the Kingwood kamikaze's as we would run along the shoulder of 59 until you were at speed to merge with the highway traffic.
Yes they went over 59 and there was absolutely no backup on Northpark or Kingwood Drive ever!
They decided to widen 59 and instead of readjusting the bridges they took them down and elevated 59 and put in stoplights on Northpark and Kingwood Drive that caused all manner of traffic backups!
