I have a small pond and I love the sound of the waterfall.
there is a swimming pool next door and it is mostly green most of the year. Upkeep and maintenance are key words, Mosquitoes and wild life next. Out in the country , my friend has a pond and the deer love to come to it in the back 40.

I had a pond. After many years I got tired of it. But it was a huge pond and was a lot of work. Maybe a small pond but it is work.
I love mine. Ive raised fish for years in aquariums and love the pond even more.
It does require weekly maintenance if you have fish. You need a crash course on the fish health and water quality. Its very easy to kill fish. They require certain things to stay healthy. You cannot just fill a pond and throw in fish. The water needs beneficial bacteria developed at a certain level to be sufficient for fish life as this good bacteria kills off the bad bacteria and makes water healthy.
This means after you fill the pond with water, de-chlorinating chemicals are added with good bacteria and then the pond should have filter running for 2 weeks before you add fish.
I can help you.

Well as I remember you can let the water sit for about 10 days and the chlorine leaves the water. Gotta check the ph too. They have kits for that. The bigger the pond the easier it is and I got a really big pond. So keeping it balanced was pretty easy. Live plants help a lot.
Initially the first time you can. But our water has other chemicals too so id just do it to be sure. But every time you add water after initial set up, you have to do it to protect the fish.

Yeah but my pond was like 16 ft by 13 ft so I never had to worry about that. My fish did great. But I also tested the water to be sure.
Wowza that is big!! Mine is not that big. I think about having another bigger one built! This one is very nice with rock waterfall and all buy id like a lake lol lol

My house had a pond when I bought it and it's a very nice thing to have. The sound of the water, the plants, the fish, the lighting, the walkway around it is all very nice. But it takes a lot of work to keep it nice.
5 years ago, I filled it in and put grass because it caused me more work than it brought me in pleasure.
Every once in a while I miss it, but not enough to do it again!

Well we started traveling a lot so I stopped with the fish. I use to have tons of water plants but they multiply really fast and getting them out of the pond was hard so I gave up. But I really enjoyed the plants especially the water lilies.
Sounds like too much work for my taste. Parents had a fountain and that was a PITA. Still, it'd be worth having just to drop this line on someone someday... 😆
