Well Just In Time For the Holidays…
The Galleria does away with free parking…won't affect me or probably a lot of us here but why do you think they are doing it?
I listened to some talk radio and they were saying the Galleria use to be very upscale back in the day. Now not so much. And in an attempt to to weed out the thugs and loiterers, they are charging a fee. However, it's not much imo. "The Houston Galleria will end free self-parking and start charging in all of its parking garages beginning Monday, November 2, 2026. New Parking Rates • Up to 4 hours: $2
• 4 to 7 hours: $5
• 7 to 24 hours (up to 24 hours): $25"

Trying to deter the robberies in the parking area; price is low $2-4, but it means they can fortify the entry and exit equipment, and deter the grab n go!

Not that much though. We finally did the Galleria experience last Christmas season and now it is checked off the list. Don't need to go out of the bubble or extended bubble...lol!!!
Shopping the Galleria during my lunchtime was the norm for 33 years. It was clean, safe, great sale prices, and easy access from my office two blocks away. They apparently are attempting to make the parking garages safer as they have become prime opportunities for criminals. I would not park there these days. Its sad to see the decline of the Galleria.
#msg6038470What about employees?
Used to love the galleria, when the crimes were getting more violent we quit going. Lol, I was desperate for good fitting jeans and I tried on a $165 pair. My dh asked if I was gonna pay that much for jeans? If they fit right. Mind you it was the barely above the pubic hair era of hip huggers. He waited a few minutes and asked, how they fit? Like crap, just like every other pair. I bend, they slide, and *** crack / thong shows.
I found the mall very expensive for what they had like any other mall. A few better stores, but still the mall feel.
I grew up in a era of a splurging downtown. Different stores, different kinds of merch. I liked the walk about in open air from store to store. Each having their own pretty bag or box. Now they roll your **** and toss it in the bag.

My friend last year was sitting in her locked car in that parking garage when a man knocked out her side window and reached in grabbed her purse. She struggled with him but then let go when he got really vicious. I will never go there.
They didnt mention that but im sure they arent charged. Probably will get a sticker for by pass.
See comments above. Basically if someone is going to jack your car or purse, they dont wanna pay to get in lol
