Smoothwaters: those are scripted anyway. the two people make a combined income of $48k, and yet they qualify for $750,000 home! You'll notice they rarely show them moving in ,and most the time, after they have made a “decision”,. They show them out on the patio with plastic cups, etc., because they no longer have the ability to film inside, by the contract with the owner. I have a friend who was sitting in The Spot with her husband in Galveston, they were approached to do one of these beachfront bargain hunt programs. They did it in one day , and they paid them $400. for their time. They do make good money, but there's no way they could afford the 1.5 million dollar beach houses they were showing them. She said that the production crew was very nice

Annie: sometimes it's not even people looking for a home. They just find a presentable looking couple ,or people who bring some drama arguing, etc. and they put them through an episode.

Annie : I've heard that from other sources as well.

or, they are just a nice looking couple, like my high school friend and her DH. They were approached by the production crew, while having lunch on the Galveston Seawall. They had gone to a wedding at the Galvez the night before, have a home, and were not in the market for a beach house. But, she Did enjoy the nice purse she bought with the $400 they gave them, for doing their episode.

I worked with a guy who was on it. They were from Atlanta. They were in the process of closing on their home. They used that home and two others that they never even looked at.
