UptownGirl: it's not a whole lot like H-E-B. It's kind of like a warehouse grocery shopping. I do like the produce there. It is mostly secondary market but is good stuff at good prices. not a lot of frills or extras, but it may be popular because of lower prices. There is one down on 1960 , on the right,before you get to 45 as you leave Humble.

UptownGirl: We briefly shopped the JoeV on 1960 one time. It definitely had a warehouse atmosphere which is ok. It was pretty messy and unappealing; I don't remember anything about pricing. It could have been an off moment for them. If it is in Humble I would give it a second try but would not drive longer distances to shop there.

The one on 1960 just before the Hardy toll road has a wonderful produce section with things not found in any of the stores near here. And their store-made tortillas, for some strange reason, are better than the ones in the HEBs and even the other JoeVs.
They do have a limited selection. For instance, instead of 14 brands of catsup there are two. Instead of 20 kinds of pickles, there are three. But the prices ae a lot less than the traditional HEBs in this area.
(For those of you still trying to figure out where this is, it is the building that was recently Conns, and before that it was the old Umble Kroger.)

Let's see if the prices are the same as their other locations. I would think their competitor will be like Fiesta and Mi Tienda. Produce IMHO has a short shelf life. I want to say the bolllios rolls were 4 for a dollar not 3 like at their Big sister store. Just look at their add for 1960 and you can do a cost comparison. I am glad they are coming in. I had a family I was helping out and was able to get them a quite a bit of groceries to include couple bags of chicken leg quarters for sooo cheap. They were doing a special due to the Food stamp time out and government shut down.

Mi Tienda is owned by HEB, so they definitely won't put one close enough to compete.

It will be here(X marks the spot):And I can't wait for it to open as I travel 1960 around that area often....Nothing like more "grocery store competition" to lower prices....I've shopped the 1960 location that's toward I-45 a few times....When it first opened it was great, lots of good deals, especially on meat and produce....But over a few years(including the pandemic ones), it lost it's "luster" for me...After a couple of visits where I "wasn't impressed", I quit making the trip....Since this new one is basically in my "stomping grounds", I can check in more frequently....
