When I was taking my son to school this past Friday morning, I saw a a white goose! I have lived here 25 years and this is first goose I have ever seen there! I wish I had gotten a picture.
After I dropped my son off I went to Old Kroger. As I was getting out of my car I heard a cacophony of noise from the sky and saw these ducks/geese?
I wish I had gotten a better picture of the ones flying in perfect v formation. Anyone birders here know where they are flying back to?

I can't answer your question but my very literal autistic grand saw some a couple days ago in a straight line like your pic and said "they are not flying in a V! What is wrong with them?!"

SpruceMom03 :
There are white geese; snow geese. They have a population of over 2 million, in the USA. So, a snow goose may have joined the 'crew' of Canadian geese you saw Emoticon I love seeing them!

SpruceMom03 : Do you know why there are uneven sides on the V formation?

A long time ago, I went goose hunting and caught one. Very tasty and good. More tasty than Canadian geese.

That makes me sad, but I know there is a balance of nature...

Hunting is a part of conservation if done correctly.

SpruceMom03 : They are fascinating. Who leads the V formation and why? I had this in a seminar many moons ago. I'll see if I can find it!

Just be wary of becoming the prey.

Don't the stronger ones take turns because the head of the v has the most wind resistance.

some Canada geese stay in Canada all year round, while others migrate south or stay in the Carolinas. Love the snow geese. I believe they fly over Kansas and may be heading back home up north The winter in Aransas Pass area
