Huntington Bank Question There was a question about banks a few weeks ago or so and saw recommendations for a number of them and wanting to move away from BOA. Looking specifically at Huntington and if anybody has had experience with them. They rank between 15 and 20th in the US for size. They are more of a midwest bank since the 1800's and they are expanding their footprint in Texas. They just bought Cadence bank which is a TX bank, which had locations in Houston, for 1.9bn and finishing up with Veritex which is up in the front of KW. JD Power's has them at the top for customer satisfaction in the Midwest and PA. Customer review sites have them lower and not totally satisfied. Anybody have any experience with Huntington and/or the Veritex branch up in the front on Kingwood Drive?

Thanks so much for the input. They actually have had a live person answer the phone when I have called and were very helpful.
I also banked with them in Columbus, Ohio when I was in grad school back in the 80's. I remember that they had friendly staff and good service. This was, of course, before the internet and online banking. We actually had to go in and speak to real people back then and deposit our paychecks and withdraw cash. I rarely go into my Chase bank now, other than to use the atm to get tip money when traveling. Times have changed!

Unless you have a large business generating $1 million a month, you should avoid large banks. They want to charge you a fee for everything. Credit Unions pay higher interest on your money and offer low cost loans, in my opinion.

My dad banked with a midwestern bank and Huntington bank bought them. Hes not had any issues with electronic deposits or transfers. You can still talk to a real human when you call, too.

SteveT : Depends #1 what your use case is. I wouldnt go over the FDIC limit with any bank other than chase. huntington's leadership team looks strong though. Ofc if they deregulate the banks I would be cautious.
