Bought a small tarp

To cover my portable generator before use. It will be removed completely before Generator is in use.

When/if it gets used, I will have it in an open area and didn't want to have to deal with removing ice to reach critical components. Summer generator me never thought of the winter complication till about 4am.

Very calm at 494 Lowes. Had a nice chit chat with another shopper regarding plants.

Annie : You probably know this, but the safety pup in me is inclined to make sure you know that you can't put a tarp directly on top of a portable generator when the generator is running. The exhaust section of the generator is hot enough it would catch the tarp on fire.

Yikes ... Be careful with that. Good idea but they make fitted generator covers for a reason. I think the main thing is not to cover the exhaust or intake?

Good thinking. I am glad Lowe's was calm. At least if the power goes out during an ice storm and you don't have a generator you can put a cooler outside with items and they will not spoil, unlike a hurricane!

Wow you wouldn't think about that until it started raining and I know I would not have. Glad you got your tarp.

No worries. This just to protect it before use. I want to put it in place today for just in case but that will leave it exposed to rain/ice. I will clearly remove cover before use.

I'm sure it will heat up quickly and melt any ice that may fall while it is in use.

RolloTomaso. Tell me more about fitted covers. Have I just missed out on a gem?
