Posting a private message received today:

"Around 5:45 this morning on Northpark and 494 A random person in a F-150 in front of me and my wife on the way to work ran down a dog and drove off. [ ... ] My wife, being a vet tech, we could not leave it there suffering. We took it to the emergency vet. They could not save this dog, they said the dog was maybe 2 or 3 years old. It was the exact same size and had the same markings as my personal dog. Who ever you are I Hope it haunts you for the rest of your life, You cold heartless person"

Joe : I just do NOT understand how you could not stop and render aid. Whether it is an animal or a human.

Joe :
That's horrible, and I'm sorry to hear that. It's nice that there were people who did stop to try and help the dog. I can't imagine how awful it would be to be notified about this.

Joe : Glad to hear it wasn't intentional. I've seen that happen. Can't tolerate it.

My whole day, and probably several more days, would be ruined. I'm sick to my stomach hearing this idiot just kept going after hitting the dog with his vehicle. Thank you & your wife for showing the pup you cared.

It's nice to know there are caring people out there. Awhile back I stopped when I saw a kitten get run over. Brought it into work and I thought the owners were going to get mad. Thankfully they didn't and my friend took the baby to a no kill shelter at the time.

Very sad I would've stopped. But what's even worse most people have no idea what to do in that situation. Who do you call? The police won't come. The fire department won't come. 311 won't help. Personally, I would've taken it to closest vet. But what if it is a big dog. What if it's aggressive, because it's in pain. There is actually 0 help in Kingwood for these situations.
