This will shut down airports, if things dont change; from delays in getting through TSA and the fact that those who work at the airport cannot get to their positions on time, delays in flights, and the multitude of problems that that causes with outbound aircraft and inbound aircraft needing a place to park ,and gates, not being available, this is just Not viable. Wait times by yesterday at 5 PM were four hours!! it's possible, but even fewer TSA agents show up today because they know what they are walking into, unpaid, and that is totally understandable. LittleTexas : Thank you for the update! This unsustainable and will only get worse until they reopen the government. I feel so bad for everyone affected by this shutdown and I pray they can come to a resolution soon.
Fireba11: agreed! further they're going to have to have more law-enforcement presents out there when the lines are like this because people get upset and start fighting and arguing which you can understand, in their frustrations. but that means more LEO will be assigned out there, and that means less on the streets where they are needed 
Weathergirl5: right now at IAH ; already out the door at Terminal E. Terminal A TSA checkpoint open, lines similar there.

SpaceCat: yes, they can be. Traffic is a bit of a snarl. Good idea: go to one of the parking spots, econo park, etc lots , and park your car then let them go on the bus that takes them into the terminal. Then you can go home from there. You will pay to park there, but it will be reasonable compared to the time you will spend waiting in line to get toward the terminal, etc. You can book a spot online and save.
LittleTexas : It's just so ridiculous. We have friends flying in Wednesday and leaving Sunday, but I think they're going into Hobby!
