Gammyof2 : Next time you're there. Stop at Bandera Grill. Get the Chicken Fried Steak with fried okra and both drowned in gravy. Yum yum cholesterol yum!!

Brat : I like Bandera Grill, it's been there for years! Unfortunately, no one else in my family likes it.

I think the Honor Cafe was on the Texas Bucket List

I used to love Cafe Texan and Mayflower Bakery - it's been 25+ years since I've been though...

I went to Farmhouse Cafe not long ago in Huntsville. It has a great atmosphere and along with a great menu/prices. They also have a large assortment of pies. Nightly specials too so if you have a kid at SHU they are great meals for pickup and cheap. Nothing like a home cooked meal.
Tried going to the Texas Cafe once but door was locked and worker just stared at us and would not open door or phone. The hours posted stated they were open.

Smoothwaters: the Texan Cafe isn't the same with the new owners. It used to be great but now it's more of a "yuppy" place and doesn't have much of a variety of foods.

I was not impress when the guy couldn't come to the door. If you have not tried Farmhouse Cafe you should add it to your list. It is right across the street and a block down.

The location in Conroe is good. They have daily lunch specials, large breakfast portions and a good burger!

There are some cute little places in Huntsville. It is so pretty by the university and the Sam Houston museum

We love Honor Cafe! But I've only been to the Conroe location. When in Huntsville we like to stop into City Hall Cafe & Pie Bar.

I love the concept of that spot, and how they honor Veterans! We Have to go to Mr Hamburger on 11th Street, when in Huntsville, just like we did when we went to SHSU. Great burgers, fries, and the vanilla shake to go with it all.
