Kingwood or Memorial Hermann for heart cath? Not sure how to pi

When I had a heart attack Dec '23, I was asked where I wanted to go. I requested KW. Most don't know it has a highly rated Cardio/Neuro unit. My care was stellar. Absolutely thankful I made that choice and not go with the chatter about KW being subpar.

PeggyAnnR : I loved it when I had to spend time at KW as well.

PeggyAnnR : I don't know about now but just a few short years ago they were rated highly for heart. Running EMS my husband kept up with this kind of information.

Between those two, I would pick Kingwood. Personally, I would find a way to use a Methodist hospital.

KanKan : I had a heart cath at Humble Memorial 8 years ago. My doctor backed out and I went to Memorial Hermann in Houston for a quadruple bypass. No heart attack and I am doing great so far.

Kingwood has a level 2 trauma center. Memorial is a long established facility with a very large diagnostics division. I've had very good experiences with both.

Sorry, but I am serious. We live miles away from the best medical Center in the world. Why in the world would you not choose a doctor from that facility?

I'm not sure if sharing this will help since the procedure I had to have was far less serious than what you're asking about.My surgeon who previously performed procedures at the former Kingwood Medical Center (now HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood) said he switched because he felt like he was doing surgeries in a 3rd world country. When I reminded him of a previous procedure he did for me at that facility, he replied, "And they let you live?"He was joking around with me of course, but I loved his willingness to joke with me like that. THAT is why I went back to him.But here's the good part - he said he chose Memorial Hermann because they have much more modern facilities and better equipment for surgeons to ensure better patient outcomes.When I made a return visit to his off-site office for a follow-up, I could hear him and his medical assistants down the hall sharing a story about another recent patient's experience at HCA Kingwood, and how the patient swore he would never go back.

Memorial Hermann is where all the Vital Heart and Vein practice. They are the best!

Vital is at Kingwood also. I used to work in cath lab at Kingwood. Excellent team

I did a triple bypass at KW with Drs Uddin and Davis in 2018. Couldn't have worked out better.
