Help me understand this, please… Just saw a story about (Spring Branch) residents upset about recycling not being picked up in over a month. My question would be why not, after the first missed pick up, would you not just add it to regular garbage for pick up? I would not waste my time going to City Hall to complain and protest, or waste time separating if they aren't interested in picking it up. Most everyone knows that most of the separated recycling eventually ends up in the same dump pile as regular trash anyway.

donnatella : I think you are correct. If it is not picked up it should be put into the garbage for the next trash pickup.

jrjtex : City of Houston, nope. Their trash isn't billed to residents of the city directly. Comes from tax dollars. This happens in Kingwood too. Recycling bins aren't always picked up, ask residents of Elm Grove.
No way would I let it sit there a month, attracting bugs, rodents and who knows what else.
donnatella : I think it's bc the regular trash guys WON'T / can't pick it up. They probably aren't allowed to dump recycling can trash contents. Then that would mean having another regular trash receptacle for all the recycling, which they likely don't have…just a guess lol.
I would really like to know if there really is any recycling done when Best Trash picks it up. Does anyone know? I am doubtful.
EasyPeasy : The answer is no. I have Best. My neighbor and I were talking about this a few years back. Later it came out from Best employee that they do not. Thinking it through..you have a truck that picks ups the little bins and throw it in the truck. When the truck docks and unloads...do you think they have people waiting to sort glass, plastic etc. No they do not.

Sell the extra trucks. Less gas to have to purchase for the extra trucks and then pass the savings along to the customers.

cbear : But customers don't pay a trash bill? I agree that this is a MESS. And maybe COH can't get this done properly and still continue recycling…that would save THEM some money. « Back to Chat
