Look what my husband made me!! I'm so happy! Look what my husband made for me! It's a garden/planting bench! 💚 I've wanted one for a while since I do so much gardening now but they go for up to $500+ bucks to get exactly what I wanted (and half of them were made of particle board) so he decided to just make me one! He actually made it on Mother's Day weekend as my gift ❤️ but all the rain kept the wood from drying out completely so we couldn't stain it until this last week. I picked a cedar-like stain and now I'm slowly getting things organized the way I want it. He cut a hole to the top of the counter with a catch pan attached underneath so I can push old soil into it as I garden/repot & then recycle/reuse it. He's installing the pan like a drawer so it will slide in and out on 2 bars. This is the only thing he have yet to do. (The pan is currently sitting on top of my soil containers in the pictures.) I just got my air tight soil containers in yesterday's (at the bottom) and I bought a bunch of plastic restaurant soup containers and added different potting items like perlite, moss, leca, vermiculite, coco coir and some other stuff. Plus I have all the space I need for my regularly used fertilizers & chemicals. He installed hooks all over so I have the ability to hang different items, a lattice background and even a paper towel holder. 🙂 With all my items in one spot, It makes everything SO MUCH EASIER! He's a pretty talented guy. There isn't much he can't do but he blew me away with this one! It is 100% made from scratch - and it took him 1 weekend from start to finish, minus the stain. I absolutely could not love it more!! 💚 10x better than anything we looked at in store or online. 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚 .... Cost breakdown: His bench- *Wood, stain, hardware: $140.00 *Storage containers and new items: $100.00 Total: $240.00 ..... 🚫 The cost had I purchased one in-store, with the same new items- *Bench: $500.00 + tax. *Storage containers and new items: $100.00 🚫 Total: $600.00 + tax. So we saved a good $350.00 bucks and I got something that I can pass down for years to come.
