grinchy : -I was not making light of it but praying that God will intervene and substitute drug and or alcohol addiction for a Jesus addiction. Theyre wanting to fill an empty hole and everything they try won't satisfy their longing. Only God can fill that hole.

eighteen : Everyone carries trauma. We learn to live with it and the some of us thrive in spite of it. Drugs are a choice. And Russell Brand (pictured) isn't a victim he's a self centered prick.

Heathur : Not everyone learns to live with it or thrives. I can probably compile a whole list of people who took their own lives. I'm just saying, it's not a choice it's a disease.Sobriety is a choice.

eighteen : Sobriety is a choice but addiction isn't? I disagree. Both are choices. And there's a difference between mental health (those people who took their own lives) and addiction. People don't choose to be depressed, have anxiety, schizophrenia, BPD, etc. but they do actively choose to pick up a controlled substance. It's not the same thing.

Heathur : Sorry, I disagree. Addiction is not a choice. Sure trying it that "first time" is a choice, but if you have the "addiction" your body reacts differently than the person who can just say nah I'm not doing that again . The struggle of addiction is a very hard road . One that never ever goes away . Imo
