From Constable Rowdy Hayden:

For Immediate Release – 07/03/2023

Pursuit of Stolen Truck Driven by Armed Burglary Suspect

On July 3rd, 2023, Deputies with Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden’s office were contacted by The Montgomery County Sherriff’s Office to assist in locating a suspect vehicle that had recently committed a burglary at a residence near Lake Conroe. The suspect vehicle which was involved in the burglary had been reported to be in the New Caney area.

Montgomery County Precinct Four Deputies searched the New Caney area, and eventually located the suspect vehicle. Upon attempting a felony stop, Corey Simmons (32, Houston, TX) fled from Deputies leading them on a Pursuit which later traveled onto US Highway 59 where speeds reached over 100 MPH. While in pursuit of Simmons, Deputies were notified by MCSO Dispatchers that the truck he was driving had been recently stolen out of Dayton, TX.

Simmons began traveling the wrong direction on US Highway 59, striking a north bound motorist near the US Highway 59 overpass at Northpark Drive in Kingwood. Simmons exited his vehicle and jumped over the barrier wall, and fell approximately 25 feet to the roadway below. The motorist who was struck did not sustain any serious injuries, however Simmons did sustain multiple injuries as a result of the fall from the overpass and was transported to HCA Kingwood hospital for treatment.

Simmons, a convicted felon, will be charged with felony Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, felony Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon after Deputies located a black semi-automatic handgun in the truck, felony Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), as well as Aggravated Assault for the crash that occurred during the pursuit. The stolen property and truck was recovered and will be returned to their rightful owner.

Constable Hayden is proud to have Deputies that courageously face danger day and night. This violent offender was taken off our streets, and the Office of Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden will continue to fight for the safety of East Montgomery County.

Sounds like a great candidate for a $100 release bond from our wonderful Harris county justice system. No doubt we are paying for his hospitalization also.

Ruger5 : When posting fines, bails, or whatever, the names of arresting officers who were doing their jobs and the name of the judge who slaps them in the face by releasing these criminals bacxk on the street should be published in every article written up about the case.

Viperasp : This happened mostly in Montgomery County so not sure he will be cited in Harris County.

TownHubAdmin : -The truck had been in a head on accident and could be a piece of junk. Maybe it had a steel bumper attached to the front of the truck.
