Humble ISD 2022-2023 Calendar approved at Board Meeting 1/11/22

Loading Image...

The Humble ISD Board voted to approve the 2022-2023 calendar at their January 11, 2022 meeting.

The 2022-2023 calendar is very similar to the current calendar with week long breaks in October, February and March.

@Rocklady2020 : I don't know our superintendent just said the school board shot him down. It's also how they do starr test as well for spring breaks time. It sucks but it is what it is.

Must be nice to have a week break every month plus summer off. Reality is, that's not the way the world works.

This calendar has so many positive things going for it that it would be hard to list them all. It's the same number of instructional days, just configured differently. Kids get bored and don't retain what they learned with a 3 month long summer. The craziness of the pandemic has made the short breaks an extra blessing to educators. I'm retired, but would have loved this schedule when I worked for Humble ISD.

@Fluffycakes : I have nothing but respect and admiration for teachers - good teachers. You are a good teacher. I just do not believe the children benefit having a week off nearly every month throughout the school year. Back in my day (hundred years ago), we started the day after Labor Day and ended the Friday before Memorial Day. Had the week of Thanksgiving off, 2 weeks for Christmas and a week at Easter. That was it. But like I said, that was a hundred years ago, back when we chiseled out homework on a large rock.
