Making the final mortgage payment this morning. Took us 8 years. Funny thing, the mortgage company sold our loan to another lender last month since they were not making enough on interests but we made one final large payment so the lender that bought it likely lost a nice bag of coin hahaa!I read tons of articles on why it's not smart to pay it off...meh..to each their own. The markets were putting around like a Model T for so long. I saw more value in financial freedom. I have a mortgage excel with formulas if anyone wants it pm me. It's a great tool that kept us motivated seeing that staggering amount of interests being shredded each month with extra payments.        4951

Congrats, I agree, not having that payment opens up your financial freedom.  Now if we could just do something about the taxes...    hoping to pay mine off in two years, if I decide not to sell it and move out in the country.  Either way, Emoticonlanning on paying off wherever I live.  We have forced retirement at 57.  Need to get everything paid off before then, so I can do what ever I want, when the day comes.    4951
