Today a Deputy Constable survived an incident that every police officer in America trains for, yet prays every single day he does not have to put the training to the test.
He was in a pursuit with a motorcycle. The driver laid the bike down and fled on foot.
The suspect attempted to car jack a citizen, the Deputy tazed the suspect which had no effect.
The suspect reached into a backpack and drew a weapon, at which time the Deputy drew his weapon and neutralized the suspect.
The Deputy is not relishing in the fact he had to take a life, there were no high fives, no slaps on the back.
The Deputy will re-live this moment for the rest of his life. He will wake up in the middle of the night as this event replays itself in his mind.
Yet, like most officers who find themselves in this type of incident, after the investigation is complete, he will put the uniform back on, check out his unit, and hit the streets again.
In this case, Rowdy Hayden, the Constable, will see to it the Deputy has all the resources at his disposal to make sure he is ready to get back on the streets. Rowdy, will support this Deputy and stand with him, pray with him, and I am sure if needed ride with him to get him back in the saddle.
This Deputy will need all our prayers and support, as will Rowdy and his men.
