Apparently there are those in another forum who insist the people of Puerto Rico are left high and dry and no efforts are being done. I even heard of complaints there are no helicopters, planes, or staging areas for people affected by the storm.

I'm all for helping our fellow man during times of crisis. But I ask you this:

What did Puerto Rico do for Houstonians when it flooded and displaced 100's of thousands if not millions?

The U.S. had ships and supplies positioned out in the ocean waiting for Hurricane Maria to pass.  So far, one American soldier has been kidnapped by a PR gang, forced to take out money from an ATM (it wasn't operational, so that didn't work), beat up, and then let go. Law and order MIGHT be in place in some parts of the island but certainly not all, and locals are actually clamoring for martial lawThere are many things the mayor should have done/could have done, but she's incompetent as a real leader and is desperately trying to take the spotlight off that fact. The problem is that reporting all that the US is doing to help PR just might make Trump look like he's capable and that's the last thing the mainstream media wants. Therefore, they will do everything in their power to obscure and outright lie about what is being done. That's a fact and it's already happening if you listen to the mindless anti-Trump lemmings who believe everything their anti-Trump evangelists preach to them. I'm reading some of the armchair quarterbacking by various Trump haters and they should be ashamed of themselves.Interesting background information about PR's dependency on American tax dollars, https://www.cnbc.com/2015/07/02/like-greece-puerto-rican-debt-is-all-about-socialism.html 4951

If you're not up to the job, then quit and let someone competent take your place.

@HollyHobby: I am starting to believe this is more of a sabotage thing. I am hoping I am wrong as there are people who really need this.

@jax: Thousands of Puerto Ricans donated to relief efforts for poor devastated 3rd world Houston.  And after Irma, Puerto Ricans took boatloads of aid to the U.S.V.I. and B.V.I. and interestingly enough, continue to do so.  Were millions displaced in Houston?  Of what, cockroaches? 4951

Well, that doesn't make a lot of sense to continue if really so dire at home. 4951

Sounds like "Plakata" has been drinking the lemonade Emoticon  The people in Puerto Rica knew it was hurricane season as did that incompetent Mayor. People need to understand that IF your Ports are damaged ships can't deliver.  If you live in the middle of the ocean and in hurricane areas then you need to prepare and to have the ability to take care of yourself.  Puerto Rica is a BANANA REPUBLIC with incompetent leaders and people who want the government to take care if them.  Another SOCIALIST group crashing. We all know how that works out.  4951
