So, I know every contractor in this area is booked and extremely busy, but we are looking for a quote before we buy a house. We wanted to know our options are. I called a couple and they were extremely rude and actually hung up on me ( I was extremely polite, too). Anyhow, I was just checking to see if any of you had any recommendations.

Thank you!! 4951

Also you may want to consider browsing Angie's List for another list of contractors to give you at least three bids. I did this years ago and came up with a guy named Wade Whitby who redid my kitchen. Did a great job great price licensed had workman's comp the whole nine yards. Would have used Gene at Northeast renovations but I know his wife. But he does a great job. 4951

Pretty sure everybody is booked to overload now.  For a house you may or may not own in the future, you are asking a lot right about now. 4951

@ET, I am thinking the same thing.It may be easier to get some prices of cabinets, counter tops, sinks, faucets, ovens and stoves, online or at Lowe's or Home Depot.  Then add some on for labor.  You can ask most anyone on here what they have paid for various things.  You can at least have a ballpark estimate in your mind that should be pretty close to accurate.

@Fallon:

And whatever you come up with, add 50%. 4951

@luv2eatsushi: I imagined her coming over with him and talking to you the whole time, then I thought no that can't be right....Over the years my contractors have become my friends...but then I don't really know their wives or hang out with them as couples. That might be a whole 'nother story.

@David18: no she would never have come over or gotten in the middle of the work. I just like to retain the ability to get mad and yell if something goes south. And I don't want to do that to a friend.

Try taking some pictures of the area to be remodeled over to Modern Home on Northpark. Ask them if they can give you a quick budget number based on their experience and what you want to do. Saves anybody coming out. 4951

I'm not saying that Modern Home Renovations doesn't do good work but they are way expensive.  Like double what our other two bids were.  $120,000 or so for the kitchen and master bath and that didn't include everything.  We did eventually spend that much but we also got new windows and some work in the guest bath.  Definitely get multiple bids. 4951
