What's up with that? Do the kids get free tickets? I'm surprised no one is talking about that here. (I know there are more pressing issues, but this is pretty big, right?).

Well that's cool. So the first 40 orchestra students got tickets. What about the parents driving them there? I'm just curious how all this is worked out. I have CMS and BBE kids, just being nosey. Sounds like a really cool opportunity to brush with fame. Think they need any extras? Lol. 4951

@valentine14:

They're taking a few chaperones along.  DS was selected to go, but neither DW or I had any desire to go along.  I'm not sure if it was the first 40, though.  I thought that DW said they were giving preference to seniors and juniors but that may not be true.  Either way it was a cool thing for them to do and he's pretty stoked about it.  I'm sure he'll come home tomorrow night with his ears ringing.  4951

The email sent from the orchestra department.  Not sure if they took 40 from the band, choir, etc. or what.Good morning! The rock band KISS is performing in Sugarland this coming Tuesday, September 26th at the Smart
Financial Centre (18111 Lexington Blvd, Sugar Land, TX 77479).  They
are partnering with the Music Cares Foundation to aid in the relief
effort for the KHS Fine Arts programs who were devastated by Hurricane
Harvey.  The band KISS is inviting students from KHS to attend the
concert for free and participate in one of their numbers with them at
the concert.  There are only 40 spots available for orchestra students.
Students will be bused from Summer Creek HS to the venue as soon as
school is over on Tuesday.  A meal will be provided at the venue before
the start of the concert.  Buses will return to SCHS approximately by
11:30 p.m.  Students will need to wear KHS Orchestra Shirts with jeans
and tennis shoes and have stage makeup applied a la KISS.  At
some point in the concert we will go to assigned places for the song
"Rock and Roll All Night".  The footage from this will be used by
various foundations associated with KISS to promote aiding the KHS fine
arts in their rebuilding efforts.We
are trying to arrange for buses to go to SCHS for those needing to get
to vehicles, and Creekwood for those just being picked up by parents in
the Kingwood area.  If this doesn't work out, all buses will return to
SCHS.4:30 pm - Students to meet in a central location at SCHS (TBD) and load up Buses to the Smart Financial Centre (Travel time 1:30 taking HGWY 99 with some traffic)- .6:00 pm - Arrive at the Smart Financial Centre. Thanks for posting that @shodan66.   My oldest is in Chamber. I didn't know you had a son in orchestra!

@Fallon: He plays cello in Philharmonic.  He was hoping for Chamber but sort of ambled about until the middle of last year (he's a junior now) before getting serious and taking private lessons.  He has an electric cello that he uses to gig with me sometimes.  We played a set at Zachary's open mic last Thursday.DD is also in orchestra.  She's in Chamber (7th grade) at CMS this year playing violin.   4951
