Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences. These guys are on the clock and representing their employers. They are free to say what they want on their own time, to a certain extent. 4951

The owners won't say a thing as long seats are in the seats...nor will the NFL.

I choose not to watch the national anthem and believe the best way to handle this entire thing is to play the anthem, if you must, while the athletes are in the locker room.

@luv2eatsushi: It’s spilling over into baseball as well.

No @jax, let the people stop going, and stop buying the beer at the stadiums and the food, and the jersey's.  Then the players can go get real jobs like the rest of the country they hate.

@Fallon:

So if there no seats in the seats, they will still buy food and beer at the stadium? How does that work, exactly?

If there are no seats in the seats, there would be no NFL and the players would have to get real jobs like the rest of us.

So YES, the owners won't do a thing, nor the NFL, as long as there are seats in the seats.

@donnatella: "Freedom of speech" is probably the most misused phrase today." Freedom of speech"  can ONLY be violated by the government. As long as the government does not sanction you, your a freedom of speech was not violated-period.While on the clock, and a lot of times off the clock, your employer can sanction you for your speech legally.Imagine if a group of players began holding up pacifiers during the National Anthem to protest abortion. Or, if the patriots held up deflated footballs during the National Anthem to protest Roger Goodell. How long do you think the NFL would put up with it?  4951

It's so disrespectful to our men and women who are away proudly serving our country. Those overpaid jack@55's are making a mockery of them and our flag.

They don't want to stand for our country, I'll be damn if I root for them or stand to cheer, they can suck eggs. 4951

@Puss In Boots: Viewership is down, ratings and ticket sales are down. It might not be overwhelmingly noticeable on TV, but the teams are feeling it.
