My wife heard the rumor that the Randalls in the back (Kingwood Dr and West Lake Houston) will not be reopening.  Apparently, it has not been doing well financially.  The Randalls up front is doing much better financially.  Has anyone heard anything about the Randalls in the back?  My wife was not a regular customer, but sometimes, Randalls would have a really good sale on a few things. 4951

I wouldn't be shocked, agreed on overpricing and HEB didn't help the cause. I'm sure the one up front might also take a hit once Aldi opens. Randalls produce also sucks so typically we go to the Kroger up front 4951

Randall's is part of the Albertson chain....... They have been financially "underperforming" for 10+ years and have closed many stores. They themselves are a collection of smaller regional chains acquired over the years and have never been able to make the "sum of the parts" work any better than the original parts. Fourty years ago when I got my first engineering job I lived in a place called Rutland, VT , Albertson / Randall's was the only place around that carried food I recognized. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: That's hard to believe. I lived in Forest Cove last ten years, and shopped at Randall's up front all the time. The place was sparse most of the time, with maybe 1 cashier at even peak times. Slightly different now, being one of few markets open in Kingwood. But I was always impressed they could even stay open. It was Saturday that Harvey really started to hit before I ever entered the Randall's at Kingwood and Lake Houston pkwy, so I can't say what that store was like before. But if it was worse than Randall's up front, god help them, they should have closed years ago.

I'm normally a Kroger girl so Randalls is my backup. The HEB is just simply too big 4951

I lived in Killington and Mendon for 20 years. Was sorry to leave VT but grown kids are here. Other than the weather, there’s not much I like about this area. I even miss the green license plates.

The big supermarkets in Rutland now are Price Chopper and Hannaford. 4951

I was just at the Randall's in the front today.  I talked to several of the employees from the back Randall's that are filling in in the front Randall's.  Again today two of them told me the back Randall's is scheduled to open before Thanksgiving.  So hopefully that is the case Emoticon  I would hope by now if they were not planning on re opening they would have told their employees.  4951

I heard the back Randols is trying to open asap! They will be the only grocery store in town center for 2-3 months. Maybe hoping to win some long term customers? 4951

I used to shop at Randalls (in back) all the time. It was never very busy.  The old HEB was way too crowded and parking was awful. So I refused to go there.  But then I moved closer to Randalls (in back) and was shopping there till the new HEB opened.      If I just need a few items, it's easier to go to Randall's so I hope they stay open!  But I love the huge selection at HEB.     The Randalls at the front also has a bigger selection of stuff.    I think they are all pricey cause they know we basically HAVE TO shop there. Can't wait for Costco to reopen.. I get certain items there... Great prices for trash bags, coffee cups- to- go, etc..  4951
